PROGRAM
Maury Komrs, president of the Women's Development Council presented
information on this organization. Starting as the planning
committee for the Working Women's Fair (renamed Working Women's
Conference) it has evolved into an "umbrella" organization which
includes the Working Women's Conference, and also a Women's
Business Owners organization. The Working Women's Conference will
not be held this fall. Instead, the organization is directing its
efforts towards a youth conference to be held in 1995. Details for
this conference are still pending, however it will be tied to
Poudre R-1, and will include workshops for young adults who have a
career path in mind and those who aren't sure what course to
follow. In addition, there will be a job shadowing component which
will match an adult volunteer with a student in a year long
program.
The Women's Development Council is interested in the work of the
Commission as well as information sharing and helping to promote
each other's events.

COUNCIL LIAISON REPORT - Gina reported that Alma Vigo -Morales, a
former Commission on the Status of Women member, was hired as the
City's new Human Rights Officer.
Council has received their first look at recommendations for the
1995 budget. Final determination of the budget will be made in
October.
Boards and Commissions appointments will be confirmed at the
Council meeting scheduled for June 21. Ninety applicants were
interviewed for all boards and commissions vacancies. Fifty four
men and thirty six women applied, although there were few
minorities and individuals under forty. Some of the boards could
be perceived as more technical boards (Water Board, Electric Board)
and there may be fewer women in these fields, consequently, fewer
women apply for these positions. Chris Wood suggested that many of
the descriptions for the positions seem too technical and the word
"qualified" may scare people. Gina also suggested that child care
may be an issue for women.
Appointments to the new Youth Advisory Board will be made at a
later date. Approximately fifty applications have been received
for this board.
