HomeMy WebLinkAboutLibrary Board - Minutes - 07/19/19770 0 C I T Y O F F 0 R T C 0 L L I N S PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES -- REGULAR MEETING JULY 19, 1977 -- 7:30 p.m. BOARD MEMBERS: Sarah Bennett, President Frank Johnson, Jr., Secretary Joan Deines Robert Burns Carolyn Haase PRESENT: BOARD -- Sarah Bennett, Robert Burns, Joan Deines, Carolyn Haase, Frank Johnson, Jr.; LIBRARY -- Larry Webber, Jane Davis, Robert Holzfaster. The meeting was called to order by the president, Sarah Bennett. She wel- comed Carolyn Haase to the board. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as distributed. Larry Webber, Library Director, reported to the board on the results of the map project. 16,250 people used the library during a 17 day period. This is 956 people per day, 82 per hour. Of the 3,455 pins placed in the map, 917 or 26.5% were outside the city limits. Joan Deines moved that the revised by-laws be adopted. Frank Johnson, Jr., seconded the motion. The motion carried. Copies of the by-laws will be distributed to the board. Sarah Bennett reported on discussions she had had with members of the Cultural Resources Board concerning their gift policy. The art piece recommended for installation in the Ben Delatour Room was ex- amined and discussed. The $500.00 ceramic piece by Jim Foster, local artist, was unanimously approved by the library art advisory committee made up of Jack Curfman, June Bennett, Peter Jacobs, Naida Seibel, and Sylvia Maxey. Jane Davis announced that Laura Thomsen, newly hired children's librarian, would begin work August 1. Larry Webber reported that a budget request of $567,094 for fiscal 1978 was being submitted to the city budget committee. This is a 28% increase over the library's 1977 budget. Included in this budget request is $51,000 for a computer -based circulation system. Carolyn Haase requested that Library Board minutes be filed in the reference area of the library in order that they would be readily available for the public. Sarah Bennett instructed the secretary pro-tem to do this. The next regular meeting will be September 7, 7:30 p.m., library Conference Room. The meeting was then adjourned.
