The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Don Morgan. The minutes of the January meeting were approved as distributed. Mr. Morgan reported on the luncheon meeting with the Mayor, Nancy Gray, and the Assistant Mayor, Elery Wilmarth. The Mayor and Assistant Mayor both expressed the feeling that the Library Board was overly sensitive about the "quality of life" designation and that it would probably have no impact on the 1982 budget process. The Library Board expressed to the Mayor that they hoped to keep closer track of the budget process for 1982 and to speak with Council about the library appropriation in a way other than the public hearing format. Library Director, Larry Webber, reported that he had written a letter of support for a grant proposal prepared by Larry Slocum for Poudre R-1. The proposal, if funded, would lead to development of parenting workshops to be telecast over the school district's community cablevision channel. He also reported that the part-time hourly salaries will be short $1,742 for 1981. Closing Sunday afternoon during June, July and August would balance the shortfall. He reported that several volunteers had opened a small library at the chapel up Poudre Canyon. They have checked out some books from this library and have obtained some through the High Plains Library System and through the State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. This is a trial project. Library statistical report for 1930 was distributed. Jane Davis, Assistant Library Director, has been working with staff from Volunteers Clearing House on a grant proposal for $2,500 of Community Education funds to develop a collection of low vocabulary materials for adult readers. The Library Board members asked Jane Davis to meet with the directors of three local nursing homes to pursue the problems of the overdue and lost books from the nursing home deposits. i The joint meeting with the Larimer County Library Services Board has been changed to March 2, 12:00 noon at the Larimer County Jail. John Power from the friends of the Library joined the Board and reported on the fund raising drive'. The brochure is nearing completion. Judy Crump is in charge of sorting the lists of prospective donors. The kick-off for the drive will probably be March 17. Larry Webber announced that LSCA Title I Guidelines and calendar had been received. The meeting was then adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Jane B. Davis, Secretary Pro-tem
