Mr. Morgan had also written to John Power thanking him for all his efforts during the fund raising drive and also the Coloradoan calling attention to the Friends of the Library and their successful efforts. The Coloradoan has not yet printed the letter. Jane Davis reported briefly on the High Plains Annual Retreat held September 24, 25, 26 and 27. The Library Board suggested that a copy of the report be sent to the newspaper, Larry Webber reported on building improvements being planned, In 1981 the lobby lights will be replaced and lighting in the meeting room improved. In 1982 the air conditioning in the meeting room will be upgraded and the fountain in front of the building installed. Larry Webber played a slide -tape on Larimer County libraries prepared by Dave Thomas of Estes Park for the Larimer County Library Services Board. He distributed copies of a report to John Arnold, City Manager, on Larimer County support for libraries. He reported that Larimer County Commissioners had allocated $197,000 for library service for 1982, contingent on the State allowing a revenue increase for the County. Jane Davis, Assistant Library Director, distributed the monthly library use statistics for September. She pointed out the statistic on building traffic now available since installation of the security system. These statistics will be helpful in long-range planning. J -2- Don Morgan distributed copies of the 1981 City of Fort Collins Boards and Commissions Manual. He pointed out that the City Code does not reflect the new Library Board organization. The Library Board members asked Larry Webber to check with the City Traffic Division on the feasibility of having timed parking in front of the building. This was in response to a library user's letter received during the summer. Don Morgan appointed Christine Kneeland, Sarah Bennett and staff member Laurie Thomsen to evaluate the book I Know An Old Lady That Swallowed a Fly. This book's suitability for children has been challenged by a library user. Don Morgan appointed Lloyd Spawn, Christine Kneeland and himself to a committee to revise the group's by-laws. This is necessary because the board now has alternate members. Lloyd Spawn asked about availability of suitable materials for young adult readers. Larry Webber and Jane Davis explained what steps are taken to serve young adults. Board members asked that tours of the different service areas of the library be arranged for them during the next several months. The meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Jane B.
