PRESENT: LIBRARY BOARD -- Lloyd Spawn, Christine Kneeland, Tom Sigl, Polly
Walters, Catherine Fine; LIBRARY STAFF - Jane Davis, Robert Holzfaster.
The meeting was called to order by President Lloyd Spawn. The minutes of the
September meeting were approved as distributed. Lloyd Spawn read a letter from
Ken Bennett, Larimer County Commissioner candidate, supporting county funding
for libraries.
Jane Davis, Library Director, distributed the library statistical report for
September and reported that materials circulation is up 14% over 1983. She
reminded those present that the Friends of the Library will be holding their
annual used book sale at Foothills Fashion Mall on October 19, 20 and 21. She
• reported that she had had no further word from Engineering Services on the
curbing repair and street lining supposedly scheduled for the end of 1984.
Library remodel project is still in the preliminary design phase. It is hoped
that upgrading the lighting on the second floor can be done at the same time
though in order to do this more funds will have to be made available by the
City Council. The Fort Collins City Budget - 1985 has been finalized. However,
since salaries have not been set, the total budget for library operation for
1985 is not yet known. All other figures remain the same as reported to the
Board mid -summer.
Under Old Business, current officers Lloyd Spawn, President, and Christine
Kneeland, Vice-president, were reelected for the coming year. Jane Davis will
continue to serve as Secretary Pro-tem.
Under New Business, updated copies of the City Boards and Commissions Manual
were distributed. The narrative describing the Library Board has been updated.
There was discussion about the inadvisability of holding the annual Tour -de -
Fort bicycle race around Library Park. The members present asked Jane Davis to
write a letter to the Fort Collins Police Department requesting their cooperation
in having the race moved to another site.
Board members suggested that the new brochures on library services be distributed
through the local welcome services, the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce and
other City buildings.
