MINUTES
CRB Present: Michael Griffith, Jim Weitz, Barbara Cain, Pauline Birky-&reutzer,
Alyce Milton, Jack Curfman. Absent: Roz Spencer

I The meeting was called to order by Michael Griffith, Chairperson,
II The agenda was approved; the minutes of the meeting of Oct..27, 1982, were
approved as written,
III Staff Reports "
A. David Siever, Lincoln Center
1, The bids are back for the main exterior sign at LC. Low bid was $3,000,
Lincoln Center has only $2,000 at this time &will need to raise the other
$1,000.
2, The Christmas Ball was a big success, It is not known yet what the net
receipts are. The event will be expanded next year to fill all of I.C.
3. Christmas events/December shows: (1.) the Nutcracker sold out (2) Chuck
Mangione performance Dec, 5 (3) "A Christmas Carol" (3) "Messiah" with
The Larimer Chorale (4) The Fantastiks.
4. The summer Festival of the Arts kickoff will be at Lincoln Center June
11 and 12.
5. LC has received two art donations, which have both been approved by the
LC League Design Committee: one is a Baumann print in honor of Louise
Perry, Ellen Thexton's mother, and the other is a print which is a memorial
to June Bennett's mother,
6. Performing and Visual Arts - Report by Mark Breimhorst:
a. $2,000 in merchandise from current art exhibits has been sold so far,
b, Mirecourt Trio program: Expenses: $4,000 „ Revenue: $3,000 (approx.)
Net loss: $1,281.
c, Los Trocaderos program: Expenses: $10,384., Revenue: $12,113.
Net gain: $ 1,779.
d. A $1,000 grant from the Gannett Foundation has been awarded, to
underwrite Children's Series workshops in the public schools,
B. Museum, Brian Moroney
1. Schoolhouse:
a. Bids for construction of Phase I will be opened Thursday, Dec. 2,
b. The Schoolhouse committee will conduct a raffle of one of Barney Jensen's
paintings early next year, as a fund-raising project,
c, Mr. Moroney will begin to write specs for Phase II.
d. Grants will be applied for on an average of one each month,
2. The Christmas tree decorating party will be Dec, 9 at 7 p.m, All welcome,
3, The new exhibit on immigrants is now up.
4. Goals for 1983 for Museum, as formulated by the staff and derived from
the 3 and 5-year Museum plan.

a. Apply for AAM accreditation by the end of 1983.
b. Display 4 temporary exhibits in main gallery area in 1983.
c. Complete 2 permanent history wall exhibits,
d. Phase II construction of schoolhouse funded and completed in 1983.
e. Extend traveling rotating mini -exhibits to bank lobbies in 1983.
f, Len Epstein will visit Poudre R1 classrooms more in 1983 (i.e., story-
telling)
g. Quotas established by staff for Museum outreaclf speaking engagements,
IV Report from Ellen Thelton
A. Requests some time at the January, 1983 meeting to report on the 1983-84
Perf. Arts season.
B. Outreach with the schools is expanding; Mark Breimhorst is working on this.
V Historic Landmarks Prospective Designations Discussion
The Cultural Resources Board will form a sub -committee composed of several
segments of the community, for the urpose of making a study of prospective landmarks
and to form guidelines for designation. A well -documented list of prospective/
recommended landmarks will eventually be submitted to the Board by the sub -committee,
Alyce Milton consented to be the chairperson of the sub -committee and will schedule
a meeting after the holidays.
VI Plummer School Question
Mr. Griffith explained the issue regarding the Plummer School property on E.
Vine Drive and asked the Board for permission to work with the City Attorney andTprepare
a reply before the next CRB meeting,, Alyce Milton so moved. Jack Curfman seconded the
motion, Ayes: Unanimous,
VII Report on the "hut"
Mr. Griffith presented to the Board the letter received from David Brose, Folk
Art expert from the Colo, Council on the Arts and Humanities, who stated that lie feels
the but should be preserved. Some questions concerning the but need to be studied
before the $oard can make any recommendation: (1) Is the but worthy of preservation?
(2) Can it be moved? (3) Where can it be moved to? (4) How much will it cost to
move it?
Dick Beardmore, chairperson of the Landmarks Preservation Commission and a
structural engineer, is looking into the feasibility of moving the hut. Mr. Curfman
will investigate a possible relocation site.
The next meeting will be January 26, 1983, 7:30 p.m, at Lincoln Center,
