A regular meeting of the Cultural Resources Board was held on
Wednesday, February 22, 2001 at 12:00 p.m., at the Lincoln Center.
The following members were present:
Fran Johnson, Ayleen Burns, Anna Otto, Ann Wilmsen,
Jennifer Beccard and Loren Hooper

DISCUSSION ITEMS
IV. Election of Officers -
Jennifer Beccard nominated Fran Johnson to serve as
Chairperson of the Board for 2001.
The Board voted unanimously to appoint Ms. Johnson as
Chairperson.
Jennifer Beccard nominated Ayleen Burns to serve as
Vice -Chairperson of the Board for 2001.
The Board voted unanimously to appoint Ms. Burns as
Vice -Chairperson.
V. Future meeting dates and times
The Board's regular meetings will be held on the last
Thursday of each month from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Exceptions to
this meeting schedule will be the Fort Fund Grant Session, which
will be held the fourth Wednesday of January, April and June.
Regular Board meetings will be held at the Lincoln Center unless
otherwise noted in the monthly agenda.
IX. Performing Arts Center Update -
The fundraising effort for the new Performing Arts
Center is underway. The Halsey North Group has been hired to
assess the possibility of raising up to '$6 million from the
private sector.
A private group of local citizens has begun an effort to
place a tax initiative for the new Performing Arts Center on the
ballot in November. This initiative would be due to the City
Clerk's Office by the end of April.
Staff is working with the architecture firm of Van Dyke,
Pace, Westlake to create a rendering of a possible design for the
facility. Mike Powers displayed a "footprint" of what the
facility could look like on the Block 31 space.
VI. Review of January Fort Fund process -
Changes that will be made to future Fort Fund sessions
include:
1. During the longer funding sessions in January and
June, a break for dinner will be built in to the
middle of the session.
2. Staff will have available a history of Fort Fund
grants and their recipients for reference.
3. The criteria used for ranking grant applicants will
be included in the grant packets.
VII. Possible changes to the Board's mission statement -
This item was postponed until the regular meeting in
March.
VIII. Possible future meeting with CVB and Arts Alive to
discuss the economic impact of Fort Fund events -
This item was postponed until the regular meeting in
March.
X. Review of any Past Fort Fund Events -
The Board will review final reports from
organizations/events that were funded by Fort Fund at their
regular meeting in March.

LINCOLN CENTER REPORT
MARCH 29, 2001
ADMINISTRATION:
B.J. Stoner has been hired as the administrative clerk in the Scheduling office.
Robin Stevens resigned following the birth of her baby. B.J. comes to the Lincoln Center
after 9 years as office manager for the Board of Realtors.
New gutters will be installed in the main lobby entrance area of the Center. hi
addition, the fencing surrounding the Sculpture Garden is being repainted.
Ninth graders from the Poudre School district will be attending special morning
performances of "Footloose". These performances are co -sponsored by the Lincoln
Center Support League and the Lincoln Center. Students pay $3. per ticket. PTO's pay
for students who cannot afford the $3 ticket charge.
Larry Gatlin has been signed as the final performer on the 2001-2002
Showstopper Series for April 1 — April 4.
Country Western singer Don Williams has been signed for a special one night
concert Thursday November 8, 2001.
VISUAL ARTS:
The Lincoln Center Lobby Gallery is exhibiting "Discover Art In Public Places."
The show highlights various projects and the members of the community who participate
in the APP process. The exhibit will be on display March 2nd through April 5'.
The Intimate and Walkway Galleries present the annual Poudre School District
Show. The exhibit will be on display March 6th through April 51h.
The "10`' Annual Northern Colorado Artist Association Exhibition and Sale" will
be in all galleries April 16`h through May 181h.

PROGRAMS
On February 24`s, the Museum hosted a Shoe Art Workshop for kids in conjunction with the Heart &
Sole exhibition.
The Museum hosted the registration for the Fort Collins Area United Way "Sharin' of the Green" run
on Saturday March 17`s.
Registration begins on April 3`d for the Museum's Summer School Programs: Upper Boxelder
Schoolhouse Program, Adventure Days, and a new two week pilot program on domestic arts hosted in
the Auntie Stone cabin.
On Friday, April 6 h, 5p.m. — 7p.m. the Museum will host The Dig It! Dig In! Opening Reception for
the new exhibit Dig It! The People and Archaeology of the Lindenmeier Site. The event is free and
open to the public and will include a bison barbecue, local beer, and entertainment.
MUSEUM STORE
In conjunction with the upcoming Dig It! exhibit, the Museum Store will be offering a unique array of
exhibit related merchandise including bison rugs, chairs, and toys, mammoth skull models and dig kits,
and over 20 new titles related to the Lindenmeier Archaeological site and bison.
STAFF
Thanks to the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services grant, the Museum has hired a part-
time registrar to assist in the Collections Dept. and a Summer Program Coordinator to oversee the
three courtyard programs. The registrar position is a one-year appointment and the Summer Program
Coordinator position will last throughout the summer months. The funds have also been utilized to
extend the Exhibits Designer/Preparator position from half-time to full-time. These extra hours have
contributed to the upcoming Dig It! exhibition and will allow the Museum to make changes
throughout its gallery spaces over the next year.
COURTYARD
The Janis cabin was relocated to the West side of the Museum's courtyard March 16-19. The cabin
will be "blocked -up" and the foundation filled in over the next several weeks.
CURRENT EXHIBITS
• Dig It! The People and Archaeology of the Lindenmeier Site, opens April 5' with an opening
reception on Friday, April 6� 5p.m. — 7p.m. Due to the increased security requirements of this
exhibition, the Museum installed new monitoring/recording equipment in the North Gallery.
• Heart and Sole: A History of the Shoe, closes —April 15, 2001.
