V. Funding status of Openstage, etc. Denise Freestone, Artistic Director of OpenStage, distributed a letter outlining her concerns and questions about the funding of organizations that have multiple programming, specifically, openstage, etc. Ms. Freestone considers openstage, etc. of providing special, non -season programming although they have a goal of producing two to four productions every year. The question of how to treat "mother" organizations and the different entities within the "mother" organizations was raised. There was comparison to CSU departments that receive Fort Fund grants. Denise Freestone reported that Openstage is only breaking even with the Fort Fund grants. The Board agreed that OpenStage should go forth with their Fort Fund grant application for the June funding session and to place this issue on the July meeting's agenda for the Board's discussion. The Board would like to know what groups share a 501(c)(3) status (under one organization). VI. Performing Art Center update - The new Performing Arts Center is currently in phase one, the petition phase. In order for the issue to be accepted on the November ballot, approximately 3200 valid signatures are needed. Currently there are 80-90 people carrying petitions to collect these signatures. June 26`s is the final date for petitions, but a preliminary count will occur on June 18'h. Halsey and Alice North of the North Group conducted interviews with prospective donors and documented their findings in a report. The report indicates that $6,000,000-$12,000,000 can be raised for the new Performing Arts Center. There was discussion about the petition and about residents' confusion with the Larimer County Events Center vs. the new performing arts center. The next phase, after the petition phase is the marketing phase. Mr. Powers reported that the North Group created a PowerPoint presentation that will be available during the marketing phase. The presentation clearly and comprehensively presents the proposal. The Board asked if there are other initiatives planned for the November ballot. There will be a Foothills Gateway item and possibly a transportation tax item. Jill Stilwell reported on the proposed Museum Expansion. The current Museum is 12,000 square feet and the addition of the present library space would add 33,000 square feet.
