The minutes of the February 17th meeting were approved unanimously on a motion by Jim Mitchell and seconded by Bill Zech. Jerry Brown introduced Pat Frost, Golf Fund Secretary for the Parks and Rec- reation Department. She compiles all the data and prepares the reports the Board receives each month. The Board commended her on the outstanding job she does in preparing all of the timely and valuable reports the Board receives. 1981 Golf Division Annual Report Jerry brown stressed that the Annual Report the Board members received is an "unaudited" version and, although it will probably not change remarkably, the Hoard members need to be aware of that when reviewing it, Jerry Brown pointed out that the Golf Fund for 1981 shows a surplus of approx- imately $40,000. This amount will be carried over into 1982. Jerry also pointed out that there is approximately $40,000 in the surcharge fund. Other Business Tom Skillman will not be able to attend the meeting with the Loveland Parks and Recreation Department personnel that has been scheduled for March 25th at 11:45 a.m. at the Hermitage Inn. Bill Zech will attend the meeting for Tom Skillman. Jim Mitchell questioned what the potential for the lottery will be for the golf program. Jerry Brown explained that at this point it is still uncertain. However, 50% of the money should go to the Conservation Trust Fund of which' Fort Collins is a recipient. The earliest realization of these funds would be 1984. It could amount to approximately $5 per capita. Oral Communications & Board Member Comments Derek Cordova was commended for the outstanding and professional job he has done with the Collindale concession. Eileen Banks mentioned that some of the women golfers at Collindale were annoyed because announcements over the loudspeaker at Collindale were addressed to "gentlemen" only. The women are curious about whether they are exempt from replacing divits and fixing ball marks on the greens. Jerry Brown noted the memo to John Arnold regarding Golf Board Issues. .He pointed out that the City Council really wants public input on how the City"s money should be spent. • Jerry Brown also noted the letter to Carol Ward regarding the Student Annual Pass Cards for the CSU Women's Golf Team. Carl Kansala suggested that at some time the Board should tour the proposed golf course sites. Jim Mitchell announced that the Fee Structure Committee will meet on March 25, 7:00 p.m., at the Collindale Clubhouse. The Bucain project has been held up because of a question of recreation use of the Industrial Revenue Bonds. We should know about Bucain's plans by May. Tour of Facilities Neil Johnson explained how Collindale is maintained, the equipment and materials used and the maintenance philosophies and practices. He introduced his staff, Doug Evans and Paul Brauer. At this point, they conducted a tour of the maintenance facilities. The Board was very impressed with the facilities, the condition of the facilities and equipment and the kinds of services provided by the staff. The Board now has a better understanding of the tremendous scope of their job. Neil, Doug and Paul are doing an outstanding job. The meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m. Respectfully Submitted, EILEEN BANKS, Secretary ETING ATTENDANCE: Golf Board Eileen Banks Carl Kansala Jini Mitchell Tom Skillman Bill Zech Staff Jerry Brown Paul Brauer Derek Cordova Doug Evans Pat Frost Jim Greer Neil Johnson Bill Metier
