IV. Orientation - Mike Powers
Mr. Powers explained the history of art in public places in
Fort Collins and described some of the dynamics that shaped its
content. Mr. Powers underlined the importance of getting of to a
fast and successful start necessitated in part by the fact that the
program sunsets in three years unless it is re -authorized by City
Council. Mr. Powers also explained the role at the board and staff
as they relate to the operation of a City board or commission.
V. Staff update - Ellen Martin
Ms. Martin showed a video describing APP projects in other
cities. Following the video she explained what has progressed with
the program since it was approved earlier this year. The primary
staff activity has been to inform other City departments of the APP
program and how it will work.

VI. Overview of guidelines and policy
Ms. Martin presented an overview of the program and asked
board members to review the guidelines in advance of the next
meeting at which they will be discussed at length.
VII. Schedule future meetings
The next meeting of the board will be held at Lincoln Center
at 5:30 pm Thursday, August 17. This meeting is scheduled to last
until approximately 9:30 pm to give board members time to
thoroughly review the APP guidelines and ordinance and to review a
proposal by artist Bruce Taylor.
