GOLF ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
October 20, 1976
The meeting was called to order by the President, Bud Crandall.
A letter to the members of the Fort Collins City Council, the Parke and
Recreation Department and the Golf Board from the President of Collindale
Women's Golf Association, Carol Ward, and the President of City Park Nine
Women's Golf Association, Julie Brack, was read. The letter requested
that green fees for team play be waived. The letter explained that since
Collindale was one of only two courses in the Northern Colorado Team Play
to charge fees, poor public relations were created and the Collindale team
members were asked to pay fees at all other courses. Five other courses
were not country clubs and were willing to waive green fees.
A concern was also mentioned in the letter pertaining to the green fees for
the Women's City Tournament. Participation in the Tournament was greatly
reduced in 1976 and the feeling was that this was due in part to the
Increased cost. A plan to. reduce fees to $2.50 per day at each course was
requested. The Fort Collins Country Club has agreed to honor this.
A discussion of these requests followed. Bill Metier said he understood
the problems of the Collindale team and felt this oece a year lose of green
fees, approximately $120.00, would be well worthuhi3e is creating better
relations with members of. ,the other teams. Members expressed the same
sentiments. Sid Perettl made a motion for a recommendation that the green
fees be waived for Team Play. The motion was seconded and passed. Vern
Schuster moved the Board recommend a fee of $2.50 per course be charged
during the Fort Collins VcWm's City Golf Tournament, The motion was seconded
and passed.
A letter from Charles and Floriene Whitt asking permission to bid on the
Collindale Concession was read. This letter will be discussed at the next
meeting.
Vern Schuster moved the Golf Board reccemend a beer license be issued to the
City Park Nine Golf Course. The motion was seconded and passed.
Discussion of contracts for Bill Metier and Tom Peck was tabled. Due to a
special rate of cart rantale for Senior Citizens which allows 750 per rental
Instead of $1.00 to the Pros, the contracts must be chanted. An exemption
for one P.G.A. Tournament per year Baas requested for Collindale.
Both Tom Peck and Bill Metier reported both golf courses had experienced a
good year with no major problems. The Board commended Neil Johnson and his
staff on the completion of the pitching green at Collindale. All work was
done in their spare time.
Dave Sadler expressed opposition to snow fences around the practice range at
City Park Nine, saying it would create maintenance problems.
Tom Peck reported the Dick Smelser Tournament netted $1,278.00 for the Dick
Smalser Scholarship Fund. Anyone in the Poudre R-I School District is
eligible for this scholarship. Tom said tentative pleas have been started
for the 1977 Tournament and it will probably be held earlier in the year.
The meeting was adjourned.
