GOLF ADVISORY BOARD
MINUTES - Regular Meeting: February 18, 1981
The meeting was called to order at 7:32 P.M. by Chairman Ron Si3son.
Board member Nance, alternate Bohmont, and City Park Nine Golf Pro Jim Greer
are absent due to vacation.
The minutes of the meeting of December 10, 1980 were unanimously approved
as presented.
COLLINDALE CONCESSION BIDS
Jerry P. Brown reported on the Concession bid at Collindale. Discussion
followed concerning the bids. Ten (10) people participated in the pre -bid
meeting at the Collindale Clubhouse, where Jerry reviewed the Invitation to
the Bidders.
Two bids were received - one from Derek Cordova, who bid 17% with basically
the same program as run by Jack and Floriene Whitt. The other bid was from
a partnership of Dan E. Spahr, Richard M. Eisenberg and Francis J. Gallagher.
This group bid 16% of the gross and recommended a twelve (12) month operation
with the services being similar to those in their in -town operation at Kombos
and Yellow Submarine. After discussion, Carl Kansala moved, seconded by
Karen Mosser, to accept Derek Cordova as the concession operator. Motion
passed unanimously.
MEMBERSHIP FEES
Membership fees were discussed. According to the final 1980 budget figures,
we spent 95% of the projected expenses and took in 97% of the projected revenue.
The year end balance is approximately $4,000 to the good in the Golf Fund.
Discussion was held on a potential out -of -city increase in membership rates.
Staff informed the Board that the City of Greeley doubled out -of -city rates
for memberships in 1981, and the City of Loveland eliminated memberships for
those users living outside the Thompson Valley R2-J School District. Staff
also discussed the depleted nature of the Golf Fund balance, basically due to
the poor weather of last winter. After further discussion a motion was made
by Tom Skillman, seconded by Karen Mosser, to raise all membership catagories
except Juniors and Seniors, $20.00 each, beginning as soon as City Council
approves it; and the Juniors and Seniors go up $10.00 each. The motion passed
unanimously. - Another motion was made by Jim Mitchell, seconded by Tom Skillman,
that future memberships for the City golf courses be limited to Fort Collins
area residents, and that members presently holding a current card (that is a
1980 or 1981) are eligible to purchase a membership as long as they continue to
maintain them. This motion passed 5 to 1 (Bill Zech casting a "No" vote).
These two proposals must go to the City Council for approval.
COLLINDALE 6th FAIRWAY TREES
Discussion was held on the tree planting along the #6 fairway at Collindale.
Bill Metier and Tim Buchanan reviewed the location as previously selected
by Tim and Neil, and was in agreement with all locations with exception of
two or three trees near the large irrigation ditch. This tree planting
program will take place this summer. Medema Homes has deposited the $4,500
with the City, as per the Agreement previously approved by the Board.
OTHER BUSINESS
- A membership attendance report for 1980 was received and filed.
- Carol Ward and Ed Pease, Golf Coaches at CSU, requested reduction of
certain fees. However, H.R. Phillips requested that this item be tabled

Pineridge Golf Course for presentation to the Chamber of Commerce.

Golf Course proposal. Jim will continue to research ways of financing a
new golf course. (Tom Skillman is working with Jim on this committee).
