February 21, 1967
The regular meeting of the Fort Collins Parks and Recreation Department
Advisory Board Was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman C. W. Peterson.
Mr, H. R. "hillips reported that the basketball program for both juniors
and adults has been very successful in both attendance and conduct.
Mr. Lowell Allen discussed the county recreation area around Horsetooth
and Carter lakes. Both Mr. Phillips and Mr. Petersen plan to attend a
meoting later in the month to discuss this problem in depth.
Mr. Phillips presented a proposal by Bartran Homes to give to the Recreation
and Parks Department a parcel of land for a park. Mrs. Eddy moved that
the recommendation of this board be that the proposal is not acceptable
for recreation purposes. Mr. J. Ray French seconded the motion which was
carried.
Mr. Phillips reported on progress at Spring Creek Park. He also reported
that the problems encountered with unsatisfactory, buses for the ski trips
were being solved.
Lights for the north diamond at City Park will be installed in the very
near fixture. Mr. Peterson recommended that dugouts be fenced for the
protection of the players.
Mr. Phillips reported that the Coca-Cola Company has offered to erect an
electric scoreboard at the baseball field which is to be maintained for
five years with the option that they away re -lease it after the fifth. year
for $200 a year. Mr. French moved that we accept this offer and that this
raccwaendation be forwarded to the City Council. After a second by Mr.
Gary Garwood, the motion was passed.
Mr. Phillips reported that the contract for concessionnaire at City Park
for the summer months will be put out for bid. Mr. Bill Hershizer has
equipment inventoried at $21,000 (Excluding the train), which will be a
factor in the bidding.
The report for Club Tico for the months a December and Janrary was
presented and filed. ,
