The regular meeting of the Fort Collins parks and Recreation Department
Advisory Board was opened at 7:00 p.m. by the chairman, Mr. C. 14. Peterson.
The minutes of the February meeting were approved..
A report on the Northern Colorado Rod and Gun Club range at the City Dump
site indicated there will be only one entrance to both the Dump and the
range, that a 250 fee will be charged and collected by the man on the
gate, that the Club will provide a man to collect fees after 5:30 D.m.,
and that plans are underway for im-3rovement of the range.
There was no report on Club Tico.
Larry James reported there had been 2,000 uarticipants a week in the
winter recreation program, exclusive of skiing.
Mr. Rolland 11oore reoorted that permanent benches and dugouts had been
built at Soring rreek park and that a landscape plan had been drawn.
Conies of surveys showing co-nmarisons in fees and charges and personnel
between the Fort Collins recreation program and other Colorado programs
were distributed.
The matter of providing adequate swimning pool facilities for Fort Collins
was discussed. It was sug*ested that 'fr. peterson talk to Mayor Benrett
and the City council with the view to apnointing an advisory committee to
work out plans for exploring ways to finance an indoor pool for the city.
Initial thinking is that the project should be a cooperative one between
the City r;ourcil, the Poudre R-1 Board of Tducation, and the parks and
Recreation Advisory Board.
The meeting was adjourned.
