HomeMy WebLinkAboutNatural Resources Advisory Board - Minutes - 06/12/19900 MINUTES CITY OF FORT COLLINS NATURAL RESOURCES ADVISORY BOARD SPECIAL MEETING NORTHERN COLORADO ENVIRONMENTAL LEARNING CENTER JUNE 12, 1990 - 6:00 PM Board Members Present Joyce Berry Charles Davis Dave Dubois Tim Johnson Deni LaRue Staff Members Present Tom Shoemaker Brian Woodruff Others Present Gina Janett Ward Luthi Bill Miller Will Smith Harold Swope Tom Peterson The meeting convened at 6:05 p.m. Chairman Johnson stated that the purpose of the meeting was to review in the field the elements of the Draft Harmony Corridor Plan relating to the area known as the Harmony Gateway. Planning Director Tom Peterson provided a brief summary of the planning process used to develop the plan and the three alternatives included in the draft plan: 1) Full development of the Gateway area; 2) Acquisition of the entire area for open space purposes; and 3) Development of the area in a way that preserves significant open space areas and resource values. Bob Wilkinson discussed the wetlands, riparian habitat, and other natural resource values of the area and outlined the location of these areas on an aerial photograph. The Board departed from the Environmental Learning Center and travelled to three locations within the Harmony Gateway study area to review site conditions. At each stop, members identified and discussed significant natural resource and open space values of the area. At the final stop the Board reviewed its former discussions on the area. It was agreed that the Board would maintain its position to recommend that the Planning and Zoning Board vigorously explore opportunities for acquisition and protection of the Gateway area. The Land Use Committee was assigned the task of finalizing a letter to the Planning and Zoning Board. The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:15 p.m.
