The minutes of the June 11, 1980 meeting were approved as corrected.
Under Alternates Present it should read Robert J. LaRocque instead of Robert
G. LaRooque. Roll call was taken.
Barbara Kienholz, Director of RSVP, "RSVP and the Senior Citizens' Board".
Barbara gave a history of RSVP and discussed its many activities: 1 income
tax help; 2) schools - Chet Hannon talked about World War I; 3) Harmonettes;
4) hospital volunteers; 5) Panty Parlor - back to school program; 6) repair
Day Care Center toys; 7) Food Coop; and 8) minor hare repairs, just to name
a few. There aren't many volunteers to do housework. There was a suggestion
from the Public Housing Authority - for seniors to work off tax dollars by
taking care of Public Housing Authority Hares - general upkeep of hares,
trimming shrubbery, keeping yard tidied up, watering yard, weeding, etc. There
is a shortage of men as volunteers - they work as long as they are physically
able to and will then volunteer.
Co v ittee Reports: Chet Hamm reported on Kansas rebates of taxes on home-
steads. He is waiting for more information.
Old Business: "Directory of Services for Senior Citizens". Wilson Wilmarth
passed out checks he had received for the Directory of Services for Senior
Citizens. Only $25.00 is needed to completely pay for the Directory. Checks
were received from the United Bank, First National Bank, and the Wilson
Insurance Company Agency.
New Business: Consideration of letter from Handicapped Advisory Committee.
Wilson Wilmarth passed out a letter from Bob Wells about a joint meeting,
