Minutes of the July 13th meeting were approved as written.
Bill Pender, our new Chairman, introduced Pat Kroll from the Colorado
Rural Legal Services. Her talk was a continuation of the one she presented
July 13th. Each of us received a listing of the services provided by that
Office. Pat dealt at length with such subjects as power of attorney, informal
and formal probate, "right of survivorship", conservatorship, guardianship,
medical decisions (i.e. putting a person in a nursing home); she also answered
many questions. She strongly encouraged us to get the word around that her
office is available and willing to help all Seniors over 60 who need legal aid.
A memo was read from Jackie Davis of the Community Development Office.
It concerned a member of our Board to serve as Representative on the Community
Development Block Grant Citizens Steering Committee. Sally Kleine has been
doing this, and graciously volunteered to continue.
It was decided to change the starting time of the Senior Board meetings
from 2:30 to 2:00 pm, and to continue till 4:00 pm. All members voted in
favor, and the new time will be effective in September.

Mildred Arnold reported on alternative housing needs for the elderly,
and there is definitely a need. She and Gail had visited some different
areas, and specifically mentioned one trailer court that was in deplorable
condition, nor was it inexpensive. They will keep looking at small homes
for sale.
Gail Woods had just been advised that there is $18,000 Community
Services Block Grant money available through the Human Development Office,
but it is urgent to act now? It is for a pilot project. She asked for
volunteers to meet with her on Friday, the 12th, at 10:00 am in her office.
Hopefully there will be more information on this at our next meeting.
Dwight Saunders reported on other money available through the Office on
Aging.
Bill Pender brought up the subject of Spanish speaking persons on
Boards for the City; there are none. He thinks we need to give it con-
sideration. Gail suggested that a member of the Los Ancianos Unidos Board
be asked to sit in on our Board.
We were pleased to have six (6) Senior Guests with us. Four of them
came as a result of reading the Senior Service Finder column which appears
in the Coloradoan every Sunday.
Meeting adjourned at 4:25 pm.
