to Members Present at the February regular Board meeting.
Kelly Unison told members he will continue to serve as City Council
representative to the Senior Board, with his additional duties as Mayor of
Fort Collins. Kelly discussed current prospects for the new senior
citizens' center and reported that Council is still looking into various
options, Such as possible lease purchase of an existing building. Joe
Campanella read a letter he had drafted to be sent to Council urging that a
new senior center remain high on the City's priority list. The letter will
be sent with an attached report from Nancy Luttropp concerning present and
future needs for a senior center. Approval to send the letter as written
was unanimous.
Ruby reported that Poudre Valley Hospital administration was aware of the
problem of early dismissals of older patients who may not have adequate
care upon returning home. However, there still exists gaps in the
availability of after care following hospitalization for some seniors.
Patti Raco suggested the possibility of pamphlet distrihutinn under the
auspices of Senior Advisory Board and possibly the Area Office on Aging.
Joe offered to check with hospital administration about the possibility of
distributing a pamphlet with information about community resources for
those about to be released from the hospital. A suggestion to use R.S.V.P.
volunteers as advocates for hospital visitation of the elderly was
discussed.
Pam Rose listed upcoming articles for the Service Finder, including the
grief counseling program at CSU for pet owners and community education
programs offered by Poudre Valley Hospital.
Discussion of how Senior Board may become more vocal resulted in several
suggestions.
- A regular representative to attend City Council meetings, perhaps
on a rotating basis.
- A questionnaire to community seniors re: interest in a new senior
center.
- A representative to local A.A.R.P. meetings in the newspaper.
- Notification of munthly Board meetings in the newspaper.
- An article in ttie Service Finder about goals, objective, and accomplish-
ments of the Senior Board.
- A coalition with the Senior Center Board to encourage a new center and to
exchange information between both Boards.

meeting, as tier family is moving from Fort Collins.
