Meeting was called to order by Ruby Lynch, Chairperson. Minutes of March
12 meeting were approved as written.
Joe Campanella reported that Anita Basham, Poudre Valley Hospital Home Care
Program, had agreed to appear at a future Board meeting to discuss what
Medicare/Medicaid covers, the covered length of stay in a hospital and what
coverage is provided after dismissal. Joe said that the community resource
pamphlet providing information on available home health care is being
updated at this time. Both Anita Basham and Susan Pederson will be invited
to speak to the Board about hospital dismissal policy and patient
aftercare.
Suzanne Jarboe -Simpson updated members on the progression of effective
insurance liability limits. Several newspaper articles have appeared
recently that speak to the concern. President Reagan has endorsed the
recommendations of an administrative task force, although the task force
did not recommend specific legislation. Concern at the federal and state
levels may produce some liability "lids". Suzanne told Board of the
likelihood that she will be replaced as staff liaison in July by Sam
Easterling, but may remain in an advisory capacity to the Board. Suzanne
and Sam will look into alternate meeting times and places for future Board
meetings.
Discussion of possible criteria for Board membership and composition
resulted in the following recommendations to City Council for applicants to
the Senior Advisory Board:
- A sincere interest in problems and issues concerning seniors
in both community and individual areas.
- A balance of ages.
- An interest in the operation of city government, as affects seniors.
- Both willing and able to meet additional time requirements, more than
just monthly Board Meetings.
- Must be prepared to seriously commit to serving full -term.
Guidelines for composition of Senior Board:
- 1/3 Senior Citizens (age 55 years and older)
- 1/3 Agency representatives
- 1/3 From professional groups.
It was moved and seconded to accept suggested criteria in selection of
future Board members, with suggestions to be submitted to City Council.

about the Senior Board, to act as an information source was accepted

ideas for future direction of Board. A future meeting will include a
