Buddy Cards - 500 of these are now ready. Mr. Peterson had some with him and
the letters to be enclosed were read. He is contacting all the Senior Citizen
Clubs to see how many they can use for their members and will mail or deliver
them with the letter attached explaining their use. Mr. Peterson will also
wirte Rotary a letter thanking them for their financial assistance. Mr. Locke
will contact the Coloradoan requesting an article on the"Buddy Cards" so others
wishing one can contact us.
Recreation Department Progr
ams for Senior Citizens - Mrs. Preble had talked to
H. R. Phillips and he said they had about 100 members in the Golden Age Club
with about 60 active participants. He would like more programs for Senior Citi-
zens, like bus trips, etc., but has not had the staff. It was decided that we
should ask him to our September meeting to give him our suggestions and hear
his ideas.
C.A.P. - We had all seen the recent budget requests by C.A.P. for Senior Citi-
zens programs amour other things, and wondered how the money was spent in Fort
Collins and if we could be of assistance. It was suggested that a letter be
sent to Mr. Alex Aguilar expressing these questions with the possibility of
contacting C.A.P. Board members also.
General meeting with Senior Citizens Clubs - This meeting will be held August
3 in the Friendship room,,Home Federal Savings, at 10:00 a.m. Mabel will see
that notices are sent to all the club representatives. Possibilities for the
Agenda are:
1. Summary of Senior Citizen Week.
2. Housing - D.M.A., Presbyterian Church and Good Samaritan plans - where
do they stand now?
3. Taxi service - ask owner to come to meeting. It needs publicity and
this might help.
New Commission members - Possibilities for replacement for the three vacancies
we will have in October were discussed and the following three suggested:
Doris Atkinson for Jean Locke (this is to have a welfare representative), Jim
Deitloff, Loretta Burdette. Another possibility is a Julia Moncheko whom Bill
Lopez suggested, but I am not sure of this name. Mrs. Stegner will send a
letter requesting this or any others you wish to suggest to her.
Meeting adjourned at about 3:00 p.m.
Next meeting - August 3, Friendship R000m, Home Federal Savings, 10:00 a.m.
