SENIOR CITTI,EN COMMISSION - September 7, 1971, 1 P.M.
Present - Mrs. Stegner, Mrs. Locke, Dr. Sobel, Mrs. Preble
Minutes - There were none from August when we were to have met
with the Senior Citizens Clubs. No one from the Commission
was available at the appointed time so the meeting was cancelled.
General Meeting with Senior Citizens Clubs - This meeting will
now be on Monday, October llth, at 10 A.M., in the Friendship
Room of Home Federal. Mabel will see that notices are sent
soon in order to get good attendance.
Senior Citizen of the Month - Mrs. Locke said that we need more
nominees so we must request names at the general meeting.
Housing - D.M.A. will not get money for at least 18 months.
The Presbyterian Church has not taken further steps. The newly
appointed Housing Authority should be taking some action soon.
Salvation Army Senior Citizen Center - Mrs. Opie, the director,
was going to give us a tour of this center today but was unable
to because of an emergency. Mrs. Stegner will arrange another
time.
New Commission Members - They should take office in October
when election is held so we need to have the appointments made
this month. Mrs. Stegner has submitted recommendations.
Property Tax relief and Special Assessment deferral for Senior
Citizens - Mrs. Preble said this had gone in to effect in
Boulder and suggested the Commission recommend a similar program
here when making their yearly report in October.
Other Business - Meals On Wheels is serving from 19 to 25 people.
The Buddy Cards have been distributed. The taxi service seems to
be well received but we don't know facts on financial security.
Next meetings:
Senior Citizen Commission - Oct. 4th, 1 P.M., City Council
Chambers.
General meeting with clubs - Oct. 72 th, 10 A.M., Friendship
Room of Home Federal.
