COORDINATING COMMISSION FOR SENIOR CITIZENS
June 12, 1974
The regular meeting of the Commission was held in the City Council Chambers
at 2:30 p.m., June 12, 1974.
Members present: W. B. Peterson, Chairman

Members absent: W. J. Boggs

Also present: Jo Ellen Metz, 2450 West Elizabeth
John McGraw, Administrative Assistant to City Manager
Minutes of the May 8, 1974 meeting were approved as distributed, except to
note that Charles.Shepardson was absent.
Mrs. Metz explained her background and her interest in volunteer work for
senior citizens. She was referred to the Volunteer Clearing House.
The Secretary reported on vacancies and expiring terms on the Commission.
Peterson's and Boggs' terms expire June 30, 1974. Douglass (term expires
June 30, 1977) and Deitloff (term expires June 30, 1975) have resigned
and should be replaced.
Chairman Peterson indicated he would be receptive to reappointment. Dr. Fred
Chambers, 2211 W. Mulberry, James G. Kieler (Chairman of Golden Age Group)
and William J. Wenders (Past President of National Association of Retired
Federal Employees) were recommended for possible appointments. John McGraw
will report these names to the City Manager.
The Secretary called attention to the press report in the June 9, 1974
Coloradoan regarding the inauguration of the Homes Health Service program
by the Volunteer Clearing House on July 1. This service, recommended by the
Commission, has been underwritten by the City Council in the amount of
$10,000 for 1974.
In regard to the Directory of Services discussed at the May meeting, it was
stated that the Larimer-Weld Agency on Aging has the necessary information
for such a directory, and it was agreed that the Chairman would contact the
Agency about this.

The next meeting of the Commission will be held in the City Council
at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 1974.
