COORDINATING COMMISSION FOR SENIOR CITIZENS
January 8, 1975
The regular meeting of the Commission was held in the City Council Chambers
at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 1975.
Members Present: C.E. Hommon, Vice -Chairman
Charles N. Shepardson, Secretary
J. F. Conlon

W. J. Wonders
Members Absent: Frances Bigelow

Cheryl Smith, representing Bob Wilson, Owner
of Columbine Nursing Home
John D. McGraw, City Human Resources
The Misses Smith explained Wilson's plans for the Adult Day Care Center at
621 Stuart Street, a 7 room house as a private enterprise.
MINUTES - The minutes of the meeting of December 11, 1974 were approved as
distributed.
The Vice -Chairman Hommon called attention to the death.of Chairman Peterson
and the resulting vacancy in the position of chairman.
Mr. Chambers nominated Mr. Hommon as chairman for the balance of. Mr. Peterson's
term. Mr. Hommon asked Mr. Conlon to take the chair. Mrs. Dunford moved and
Mr. Wonders seconded that .the nominations be closed and'Mr. Hommon elected by
acclamation. Motion passed unanimously.
Chairman Hommon asked that all members come to the next meeting prepared to
recommend a replacement for Mr. Peterson.
John McGraw discussed need for a directory of agencies serving senior citizens
and solicited assistance of the Commission.
City Manager, Brunton entered the meeting and announced that the Council had
voted to use the Col.oradoan Building as a center for senior citizens and
parks and recreation activities.
In the ensuing discussion it was suggested that Mr. Brunton arrange a joint
meeting of the Commission and the Parks and Recreation Board to consider the
various activities to be housed in its building and to consult with the
architect regarding the same. It was understood that this would be done.
The question of the authority of the Commission as raised in its report to
the Council and its relationship to the County Council on Human Resources,
the County Council on Aging and the Area Agency on Aging was discussed.
Mr. Brunton reported that the City Council would soon be considering our
report
The meeting was adjourned at 4:32 p.m.
