COORDINATING COMMISSION FOR SENIOR CITIZENS
September 8, 1976
The regular meeting of the Coordinating Commission for Senior Citizens was
held on Wednesday, September 8, 1976 in the Parlor of the First United
Methodist Church at 1005 Stover at 2:30 P.M. The meeting was called to order
at 2:40 P.M. by Chairman Fran Bigelow.
Members Present: Rev. Fran Bigelow, Chairman
Mr. C.E. Hommon, Vice -Chairman
Mrs. Lois Chung, Secretary
Mrs. Ginny Dunford
Mr. J. Conlon
Dr. Hank Gardner
Members Absent: Ms. Ginny Aragon
Mrs. Daisydeane Lannon
Mr. Ed Martin
The minutes of the August 11, 1976 were approved as read. The following is
todays agenda: Old Business; Reports: Historical Update - Ginny Dunford will
report on this next month; University Courses - Dr. Hank Gardner reported that
a senior citizen may sit in on classes if permission is gotten from the
Professor but this would not be on an audit basis. Tax and Utility Reductions
were reported on by C.E. Hommon. Qualified citizens receive a city refund.
Review of Goals and Objectives set up with the City Council was reported on by
Lois Chung. The Goals and Objectives are : a. Day Care Center for Senior
Citizens; b. Senior Citizens to sit in on classesi& CSU; c. Check into duplication
of services. New Business: Review and setting up of objectives; Duplication of
the City's Agencies for the Aging; Update of Senior Citizen Directory of Services.

Suggestions for Speakers, etc. Dr. Hank Gardner will invite HilHobbs,
Resource Librarian, to our October 13, 1976 meeting.
There will be a County Council of Aging meeting on September 24, 1976. Ideas
for a seminar on Death and Dying were discussed. Much interest was expressed
by the members present. This topic will be discussed in more detail at the
October 13, 1976 meeting. Also mention was made about films on the Senior
Citizen and book resources. These ideas could possibly be incorporated into
a seminar.
The Coordinating Commission for Senior Citizens have reviewed the services in the
Directory of Services for Senior Citizens 1976 and have found no duplications.

The October 13 meeting for the Coordinating Commission for Senior Citizens
will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 1005 Stover at 2:30 P.M.
This was agreed upon by the members present since the Parlor at the Church
was more convenient to the working members and we could sit in a circle
facing each other at the table.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:55 P.M.
