MEMORANDUM
TO: Yvonne Myers, Chairperson, Senior Advisory Board
Barbara Schoenberger, Staff Liaison, Senior Advisory Board
FROM: Mayor and City Councilmembers
DATE: February 24, 1998
We would like to have you share the following information with all boards and
commissions members at your next regularly scheduled meeting:
Many of you were in attendance at the recent boards and commissions appreciation
event. We hope that you enjoyed the reception and performance by Rita Rudner. Each
year we host this event to show our appreciation for the countless volunteer hours given
so freely by each of you. We realize that not everyone could attend the event, so we want
to take this time to thank each board and commission member for their contributions to the
City.
Councilmembers are certainly aware of the limits on our time and abilities. We depend on
the diversity of interest, knowledge, and experience encompassed by members of all the
boards and commissions.
City Council addresses numerous policy issues and questions throughout the year. As you
are aware, the primary responsibility of the City's various Boards and Commissions is to
advise Council on policy matters. We rely on the knowledge and experience base of board
and commission members in considering the issues and recommending policy directions.
We want to take this opportunity to remind each of you that your recommendations are
taken seriously and carry considerable weight in our deliberations. The best way to relay
your ideas and opinions to us is by letter. Also do not hesitate to call the Council liaison.
Because all Councilmembers are liaisons to several board and commissions, we cannot
be present at every meeting. We rely on you to get important information from your
discussion to us.
Keep up the good work and thank you again for making Fort Collins such a great
community!
