The Fort Collins Senior Advisory Board held a regular meeting on April 8, 1998 at the
Senior Center.

Meeting was called to order by the chair, Yvonne Myers at 2:00 PM.
Citizen Participation: None.
Correspondence: Received the Poudre Health Services District newsletter, the Share
newsletter, and a invitation for the 1998 Paint-A-Thon.
Approval o_ f Minutes Minutes of March 11, 1998 were approved unanimously with the
following corrections:
1. Attainable Housing instead of Obtainable Housing
2. SAINT is all caps as it is a acronym.
3. Sally Musso wanted someone from the Senior Center Council to attend a FOA
meeting.
Guest Speaker: Steve Rohm with the Elder Pet Care Program updated SAB on how the
program is doing and some of their current projects like a quarterly newsletter, and a
vaccination clinic to raise more funds for the program.
Laurie Fonken-Joseph of the Fort Collins Human Rights Office discussed her job
responsibilities. She investigates complaints, enforces the anti -discrimination ordinance
and provide', community education. Upcoming events include: a two day multi -cultural
community retreat and the possibility of the recently passed human rights ordinances
coming up for vote.
Old Business:
A. Trans ation: Tom Frazier, head of Fort Collins transportation, is currently running
operations for Dial -A -Ride.
B. Housine: Kay reported that OOA is providing advocacy for tenants at various places
in Fort Collins who are being treated unfairly by management, they are putting together a
workshop on tenants rights, and are looking into the possibility of extending the
Ombudsman program to service senior housing
C. Liaison Letter: Letter is ready and will be mailed out with the next SAGE NET
publication.
D. City Line U te: No report.
E. Outreach meeti=. SAB will attend the county wide Resident Council meeting on
May 20th and the AARP meeting on May 21 st. Yvonne talked with Cliff Barber, who
teaches the CSU Gerontology class. SAB will talk with the class in the fall.
F. Human Relations Award Blanche wrote a letter of recommendation for Ester.
G. Foundation on Aeinne Representative: Mae and Ester to alternate? Will discuss
further at the next meeting.
H. SAGE Net: Ed passed out the new SAGE Net letter for SAB to review.
I. Liaisons Report: Blameless But Bound to be the next SOAP Troupe production.
Yvonne Myers is now doing marketing for Columbine Health Systems and is no longer at
New Mercer Commons. Marjorie shared several newsletters and will be attending the
primetime meeting to suggest they add a "senior page". Barbara reported that Carla
Smith from the City Clerks office has asked for a copy of SAB bylaws. These will be
reviewed and sent to her.
A. OlderAmerican's Month ,inn Azari will be at the Senior Center to proclaim May,
Older Americans month. Second week in May is National Nursing Home week. May
27th is National Senior Fitness Day.
B. House Bill: The house bill for the Do Not Call List was turned down. Those who
wish to have their name taken offtelemarketer's lists can write to:
