HomeMy WebLinkAboutSenior Advisory Board - Minutes - 01/13/1988MINUTES OF MWTING OF TEM SENIOR ADVISORY BOARD JANUA.RY 139 1988. Meeting called to order by Joe Campanella at 1:35 P. M. Members present: Joe Campanella, Pat Long, Sam Rosenthal, Ruby Lynch, Yetta Rollin, Nancy Luttropp, Philip Simon and Arlene Simon. Members absent: Dwight Saunders, Mildred Arnold and Ellen Connelly. Motion made and seconded to accept minutes of November meeting as pub- lished. ('There was no December 1967 meeting.) Joe made a report of the Senior Task Force meeting. A letter was written that is to be send to interested people stating the advertising rates for the Senior Guide. Report of the YIPS committee was made by Pat. A visit was made before the Holidays to the school for new math training. A four hour session was presented. The VIPS will give this information to new students com- ing into the school system who have not had this training. Pat and his wife have been to kindergartens to help them finish projects ^o all can be current. About sixteen men members are involved. Nancy asked Pat if he would write an article concerning the group's functions for the Greening Leaf publication. The Senior Voice also was suggested for articles. No new information on the progress of the Iatch Key Program. Nancy stated the New Senior Center Questionnaire has become a big time consuming project and she asked for our help in compiling it. We need to read the first three pages to find a format. We need positive questions that need appropriate answers. Our thinking for the best format and the ten best questions is to be ready for the March meeting. Then a mailing list of AARP, Area on Aging and Senior Center members will be made. A random calling will also be made. Nancy would like to be able to use CSU facilities to compile results. Nancy reported on the status of the New Senior Center. Larry Scott, tie Against Sales Tax person, has been asked to speak to the AARP Board. He asked Nancy to attend the Board Meeting with him. Life Care Centers of America has made an offer to build a 40,000 square feet facility with a 300 car parking lot with no interest to 'the city for 5 years. But where? Downtown Merchants want the New Senior Center downtown. CECER (with CjU) is a good and bad deal. Should a Senior Center and Youth Center be built together? Discussion about the above comments followed. Nancy is to make a date for the Parks & Recreation Board and the Senior Advisory Council to visit the new Loveland Civic Complex.
