HomeMy WebLinkAboutSenior Advisory Board - Minutes - 03/09/1988SENIOR ADVISORY COUNCIL BOARD MEETING. MARCH 9. 1988.
Present: Joe Campanella, Pat Long, Philip Simon, Arlene Simon,
Ruby Lynch, Nancy Luttropp, Sam Rosenthal, Yetta Rollin,
Mildred Arnold and Ellen Connelly.
Absent: Dwight Saunders.
Meeting opened at 1:35 PM. Nancy brought us up to date
on the survey for the new Senior Center. She met with Cliff Barker
of CSU. He reviewed the survey form and said we could use CSU
facilities but we would need to supply the manpower to compile
the results.
At the present time the city could use 20 million dollars
for about a thousand projects, but the Senior Center seems to be a
high priority.
There is a two —fold reason for the survey. First, to find
out information for needed programs and second, to use as information
for City Council as to what kind of building or buildings are needed.
Various questions of the survey questionnaire were re —worded.
Is there any money available to the Senior Advisory Board?
If not, the Senior Center budget can absorb the cost of the survey.
Hopefully the survey can be approved by City Council and
returned for our April meeting. A small number will be printed in
Spanish for the older Hispanic community.
Ellen will distribute surveys to the Hospital Auxiliary, and
Yetta will distribute survey to RSVP at their tea in May. The United
Seniors were added to the list for distribution.
The February minutes were read and approved as written. The
van trip to other Senior Centers was cancelled and is to be
re —scheduled again after the survey.
There was no new business.
Pat reported he had a meeting with VIPS. A doctor spoke
about problem children in the schools.
Meeting adjourned at 3:10 PM.
Arlene M. Simon, Secretary.
