Meeting was called to order at 2 PM by chair, Marjorie McTaggart.
A small, informal reception was held to honor Mayor Ann Azari. Several staff
members joined the group for this.
New member George Kress was introduced at this time.
Citizen Participation — None
Correspondence
- Barbara presented a report on Multi -Culture Commissions for February 1999.
- "Strengthening Board Effectiveness," a training session for all City Board
members will be held April 30. SAB members have information on details for
this.
- Letter from Kaufinan Broad received regarding senior apartments at JFK and
Troutman received by Board requesting a letter of endorsement. It will be
sent to Janine Walkup.
- Memo from Karla Smith about openings on various Boards and Commissions.
Approval of Minutes
Unanimously approved after corrections.

VII. Old Business
A. Trans ortation — Flo
- "City Fund" seeking federal grant
- Mulberry Street truck route decision delayed until June 6.
- Due to spring break fewer passengers used Transfort, routes were altered and
there were delays in service.
- SAINT preparing grant request from United Way.
B. Outreach — Yvonne
- Some SAB members will attend CSU class "Middle Age and Aging" April 5
at 4:10 to 4:40 PM.
- Working with Lynette McGowan regarding program to be presented at City-
wide Resident Council meeting in May.
- Golden K Kiwanis and Friends of the Senior Center will be on future
Outreach programs schedule.
C. Housing — No report.
D. IYOP — Yvonne and Kristin
- Kristin is preparing an extensive photo display to be exhibited in various
locations throughout the city.
- Lynette McGowan has a slide show available upon request.
- Independence — OOA working on a program —jobs for "older people."
- Self -Fulfillment — Senior Center preparing a resource guide for all educational
and recreation senior services.
Marjorie sending a letter to all Boards and Commissions requesting their
inclusion of IYOP in future plans. It was suggested it also be sent to service
clubs and City Council members and that IYOP logo with detailed
information on IYOP be included.
E. Commission on Status of Women — Marjorie
- No response to SAB letter.
- At their January meeting they discussed need to redefine their purposes and
goals.
F. Letter to City Council concerning property at Shields and Raintree tabled.
G. Senior Network Luncheon — Erik
February 25 meeting of co-sponsors well attended. Various duties
assigned. Next meeting April 22.
Luncheon will be held at Fort Collins Senior Center September 23, 1999.
OOA presented resume of SAGE purpose.
H. City Council Candidate Forum for Senior Issues on March 25 — Marjorie
Five of six candidates have responded.
Jim prepared tentative list of questions.
- Subcommittee formed to discuss format (Immediately following SAB
meeting). They are — George, Mae, Jim, Blanche, Marjorie.
I. Legislation — Jim
- Bill 1166 (Health and Welfare) to increase allowance for nursing home
patients. Has been "sitting" since January 20. Board voted to send letter to
sponsor of the bill, Ms. Torchtrap.
J. Liaisons Reports
1. Foundation on Aging — Mae
• "Market Place News" welcomes articles relating to seniors.
• "Week of Young Child" will be held at FCHS April 13. Booths for
various organizations will be on display.
2. City Line — Kristin — No calls this month.
• RSVP Handyman program seeking volunteers.
3. Poudre Valley Health System — Erik
• Larimer County Service Network meets monthly.
4. Elder Care Network — Yvonne
• Details of Embracing Aging Conference on May 1 discussed.
• Alzheimer Memory Walk coming up.
5. TRIAD/SALT — Fran
• Linda Ellis is writing grant for federal support to fund children's
library for which seniors would be trained.
6. City Council — Fran
• No senior issues.
7. Chamber of Commerce — Jim
• Has booths at various displays. Possibility of board representation at
end of April.
8. Transportation — Flo
• .36% tax on April ballot to benefit needs and issues.
• SAINT — Preparing United Way grant.
9. Senior Center Council — Mae
Council co -sponsoring (with SAB) candidates forum on March 25.
Saint Patrick dinner to be served March 17 at Senior Center.
VIII. New Business
A. New member George Kress welcomed at the beginning of meeting.

B. OOA — Barbara reported their funds reduced. Distributing cards to board
members to be sent to state representatives in support of much needed
funding. Board will also send a letter of support to Steve Tool.
IX. Other Business
A. Request from City Manager for Board input on budget by May 3`d tabled.
B. Marjorie asked for Board opinions on City Diversity Plan.
