1. Call Meeting to Order: George Kress called the meeting to order at 2:38p.m.
2. Citizen Participation.
3. Correspondence:
A. Letter to Mayor Ray Martinez from Bill Owens thanking him for the letter regarding
the Older Coloradan's Program and House Bill 01-1079.
B. Memo from Marjorie McTaggart saying that she will be asking Aspen Club for
additional funding to help buy flasher switches to other groups as well.
A TRIAD committee is meeting Thursday 6/14 to work on procedures to find and
educate the most needy, and promote the switches.
C. Barbara reported on a new national online service that helps seniors, families, and
caregivers find the right benefits programs to meet their needs, the address is
BenefitscheckUp.org. The site contains a fast, free and confidential screening tool to
determine eligibility for nearly 1,000 unique state and federal programs and provide
detailed instructions on how to apply for them.
D. Commission on Status of Women has sent out application forms for the Marcile N.
Wood awards. This is an award given to someone who has contributed significantly
to the status of women in our community. The deadline is July 16'h. Eric nominated
Marjorie McTaggert, Darren seconded. Everyone was in favor.
E. City Line:Barbara suggested that we let more people know about the City Line
because of all the information it provides to seniors.
4. Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the last meeting were unanimously approved
5. New Business
A. Election of officers: The following candidates were nominated.
Secretary - Eileen Hendee
Vice Chair — Maxine Yankey
Chair — John Roberts
No additional nominations were made. Vote was taken and each candidate was
unanimously chosen.
B. Collaboration with Human Resources Commission Wenda Hartzell Barbara
suggested that a member of the Senior Advisory Board become involved. George
volunteered.
C. Planning for the New West Fest: Eric suggested that the Senior Advisory Board
share a booth with other organizations, Eric volunteered to contact other agencies.
It was decided to do the same type of booth. Barbara suggested that Eric and
Kristen organize the booth to have consistency from last year.
D. Update on Emergency flasher switches: Marjorie sent a report that the
Foundation on Aging has donated $200.00 to buy ten switches. The Aspen Club
director is checking with the PVH Foundation about the possibility of a grant for
the same purpose.
6. Old Business:
A. Work Plan goals: Barbara feels that we should decide which direction the Senior
Advisory Board should take based on survey results. Everyone agreed.
B. Strategic Transportation Plan Barbara read a letter from Mayor Ray Martinez.
Maxine spoke at City Council, they gave her no answer as to if they would get
back to her. Maxine will find out when Transportation will next be on the City
Council Agenda
C. Centenarian Reception, everyone agreed, was a wonderful event.
D. Bridging the Gap Luncheon will be held Sept. 28d'. Different issues concerning
seniors will be focussed on. The ultimate goal will be letting various agencies
become familiar with one another.
Eric asked for suggestions for a theme. A suggestion was made, "Many Faces of
Aging". Eric asked for a volunteer to serve on this board next year.

D. Senior Center — Maxine Yankey reported on the Cemetery Crawl being held
Saturday, June 23`d at 10a.m. and 2p.m. SOAP Troup is working on their
Christmas show. Maxine has received positive input from visitors about the
Senior Center Staff and Volunteers.

The next Senior Advisory Board meeting will be July 11"' at 12:30p.m. for lunch
and John Robert's slides. Meeting will begin at normal time, 2p.m. If you are
planning on coming for lunch please RSVP to Karen at 224-6025 (she will be on
vacation so leave a message) or she can be reached by E-mail which is
kbrynernaci.fort-collins.co.us. I am also open for lunch suggestions.
