APPROVAL OF MINUTES
COD members unanimously approved the minutes from the June 13, 1988
meeting as written.
NEW BUSINESS
Election of Officers - Carol Rice and Arne Andersen will serve as
Co -Chairman. Carol Rice will serve the first six months with Arne
Andersen as vice-chairman. Arne Andersen will serve as chairman the
second six months with Carol Rice as vice-chairman. Roy Beauchamp
will serve as member at large.
Mayors Award Breakfast - Debbie Zeigler reported on dates available at
the Lincoln Center. Having the breakfast early in October will be a
problem because of the sculpture garden construction. Accessibility
will be limited to the South side. If the breakfast is held in late
October, there won't be a problem. The Commission members said that
it was imperative to have it the first week of the month. That is
"Employ the Handicapped Week". They asked Debbie Zeigler to call and
find another meeting place which would hold approximately 100 people,
have audio/visual capabilities, kitchen facility and accessibility.
The room will be reserved from 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m..
Arne Anderson said that he had an idea on the simulations for this
year. Instead of the standard way, he would like to have public par-
ticipation. He called and found out that Octoberfest will be in Old
Towne September 24. He thought this would be a good time to set up
simulations and have Columbine Cablevision videotape the event. The
video could then be shown at breakfast. Shirley Reichenbach wondered
if there would be enough time to edit. Nancy Jackson will call and
see about having the video made and report back to the Commission.

received further comment on the situation to get back to her so that

We at Foc:.hills Gateway Rehabilitation Center, Inc., have three swimming
pocls which are utilized by children and adult clients during the program
day as an inte?ral part of the individual's goals and objectives as out-
lined in each client's Individual Habilitation Plan. The pools allow
both therapeutic a.. recreational prcgramming benafits. The pools include:
1) An 18' diameter wading pool which is 1' deep at the outer edges, sloping
to 13" in the center. The average tc1t,,)erature is betwc,>n 85' and 500
.
2) A 20' x 40' backyard -style pool with a sprincl;card diving board. This
pool goes from 3' - 9' deep. The average tec.?erature is between 83'
and 86°.
3) A therapy:utic pool 1.4' x 20' with built-in seating. water jets (like a
spa), and some built-in equipment (parallel bars, etc.). This pocl is
31-2' deep throughout and the average temperature is between 92' and 96°.
All three pools are tested daily for pH, total alkalinity, and chlorine
levels to ensure proper balance.
In the past, these cools have been used during Center hours only. We are now
planning to offer the use of the pools to selected groups in the Fort Collins -
Loveland area. If you feel that members of your group would benefit from
and be interested in aquatic activities utilizing our pools, please contact
Polly Davis at 226-27 5 or 667-6410 for rates, availability and other
i r;format' ^n.
Ive loo'., forward to hearing from you and serving the community in this capacity
where it is needed.
