HomeMy WebLinkAboutWomens Commission - Minutes - 06/15/2005Women's Commission's Meeting Wednesday, June 15, 2005 Minutes Attendance: Beth Etter, Paula Cole, Amanda Almon, Barbara Goff, Alison Johnston, Chris Linder and Penny Vincent Meeting called to order by Barb @6:15 p.m. May meeting lack quorum/No official minutes Announcements: • Amanda announced that she has accepted a teaching position in the state of Ohio. Congratulation was expressed by everyone in attendance. Amanda expressed reservations about leaving the Commission, yet, was excited about the future opportunity. She agreed to provide the Women's Commission (WC) with a disk of all the work she has done on behalf of the group. • Paula announced that she is currently doing research on Child Care/Public Assistance recipients and would like to interview various individuals. She encouraged member to have the individuals contact her directly. She agreed to develop a form letter to be disseminated to interested parties. Other suggested contacts were provided to her as well. • Barb mentioned her concern regarding the current number of vacancies that exist on the Commission, and inquired about the protocol for replacements. I. Sub -topic Category Discussion. Four areas were identified: 1) Education 2) Transportation 3) Employment 4) Childcare The group determined that Larimer County compass demographics will be used in identifying local trends. Goals of the Women's Commission are to: • Educate City Council members • Embrace the Policy Agenda of the Council • Provide information regarding women's issues with the hope of it being incorporated into Council agenda Individual assignments were agreed upon. Please refer to the attached document. Extensive dialogue followed, with a clear understanding that each person would be prepared to discuss their findings during the July meeting.
