HomeMy WebLinkAboutZoning Board Of Appeals - Minutes - 10/10/1991ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS October 10, 1991 Regular Meeting - 8:30am The regular meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals was held on Thursday, October 10, 1991 in the Council Chambers of the City of Fort Collins City Hall. Roll was answered by: Gustafson, Wilmarth, Huddleson, Anastasio, Cuthbertson. Boardmember Absent: Lancaster Staff Present: Peter Barnes, Dana Goode Minutes of the September meeting were approved. Appeal 2007 - 317 Park Street by Tim & Barbara Gauthier - approved with conditions. The variance would reduce the required side yard setback along the north lot line from 5 feet to 3 feet in order to allow a carport addition over an existing driveway. The property is in the RM zone. ----- The petitioner's statement of hardship: The existing driveway is located under some large trees. These trees drip sap onto the cars when they are parked in the driveway. The owners would like to provide protection for their vehicles. Staff comments: None One letter was received. It is filed with these minutes. Zoning Administrator, Peter Barnes explained on this street some of the houses do not have driveways, while some have detached garages off the alley and others have garages accessed from the street. He stated the trees do cover a large portion of the driveway. Applicant Barbara Gauthier appeared before the Board. She explained the proposed design and placement of the carport. Boardmember Wilmarth asked Zoning Administrator Peter Barnes if the Board needed a set of drawings before approving or denying this appeal. Mr. Barnes stated a site plan was submitted and if the Board required, the petitioner could be asked to supply a drawing, but it was not necessary. The site plan indicated the size of the carport. Zoning Board of Appeals Page 2 October 10, 1991 Boardmember Gustafson made a motion to approve Appeal #2007 for the hardship stated with the condition that the carport have a slopped roof (the same as the front porch) and the carport be of a framed type and not solid walled. The motion was seconded by Boardmember Anastasio. Board discussion followed. Boardmember Cuthbertson moved to amend the motion to state that care should be taken to protect the roots of the trees. Yeas on the amended motion: Yeas: Gustafson, Wilmarth, Huddleson, Anastasio, Cuthbertson. Nays: None OTHER BUSINESS Election of Officers: Boardmember Gustafson moved to appoint Chuck Huddleson for another year as Chairman. Boardmember Anastasio seconded the motion. Yeas: Gustafson, Wilmarth, Anastasio, Cuthbertson. Huddleson abstained. Boardmember Anastasio nominated Robert Gustafson for Vice Chairman. Boardmember Cuthbertson seconded the motion. Yeas: Wilmarth, Anastasio, Cuthbertson. Gustafson abstained.
