HomeMy WebLinkAboutWater Board - Minutes - 07/07/1966r i MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE WATER BOARD held July 7, 1966, at 10:00 o'clock a.m. in the Council Chambers. Present: President Ward Fischer, Mayor Harvey Johnson, Sec- retary John Bartel, Board Members Norman Evans and Owen Moore. Also present were City hanger Tom Coffey, Administrative Assistant John Baudek, Director of Public Works C. Adam Fischer, Superintendent of the Filter Plant Herb Alexander, and Council Members Tom Bennett, Alvin Kruchten, Karl Carson, Harry Troxell. This meeting was called in an attempt to do something to cut down on the excessive use of water in the City, due to the long, dry spell. After considerable discussion, it was agreed that lawn watering on odd and even days, or watering at odd -numbered houses one day and • even numbers the following day would not give the filter plant time enough to replenish reserve water in the storage reservoirs. The use, at present, is 21 to 24 million gallons per day, losing at the rate of two to four million every day. The City is obtaining approximately 1.5 million gallons per day from the Fort Collins -Loveland Water District, and the maximum production is 17.5 million gallons. The recovery at night is only one foot in the storage reservoir, or approximately one million gallons. A motion was made by Mayor Johnson, seconded by Owen Moore stating that it is the Board's recommendation to the City Council that any time the telemeter at the filter plant registers a low of ten feet or less of water in the reservoirs, that the City Manager and the City Engineer be authorized to limit restrictions on watering until such time as the storage area is again filled. L J A motion was made by Norman Evans, seconded by Ward Fischer, that the Board's recommendations be a two-day moratorium on the use of water, effective July 8 and 9, 1966. This motion was carried. The Board members will appreciate a weekly report on the re- sults of the above restrictions. These restrictions are to apply only for the balance of the 1966 season. There being nother further to discuss, the Board adjourned. SEC Y • n U
