Ed Zdenek, Espirit, C.M. appeared before the Board requesting an
up -grade of his license from a Class D/E to a Class Cl.
Felix Lee, stated he could not grant Mr. Zdenek a license with the
job verification forms submitted, which verified only attention
work.
Board member Cotterman asked Mr. Zdenek if he, as the architect,
was personally involved the in the projects that were submitted on
the job verification forms. Mr. Zdeneck stated he did serve as the
superintendent on some of the jobs.
Board member Froseth stated another factor to remember was that Mr.
Zdenek was a licensed architect and had training in structural
matters. Board chairman Sutton stated the job verifications
indicated lack of experience, but he would take into consideration
Mr. Zdenek's experience and knowledge as an architect.
Board member Johnson moved to approve Mr. Ed Zdenek for a Class C-1
license and certificate with a waiver of testing to be determined
by the Chief Building Official. Board member Froseth seconded the
motion. The motion passed.
Felix updated the Board on how the code review process was going.
Mr. Lee stated Board member Cotterman was an active participant on
that committee as well as on the Model Energy Code committee. A
general meeting for the public will be held November 10, 1993 at
7:00pm at City Hall to dicuss the changes to the code. Felix stated
after that meeting he would like to make a formal recommendation to
this Board and then a recommendation to City Council in December..
Board member Cotterman stated the code adoption has been a very
serious matter and Felix and his staff have done an excellent job
making sure each code has been analyzed thoroughly. Mr. Cotterman
also expressed his concern that there seems to be a trend of adding
new code requirements that are significantly increasing costs.
Felix told the Board he has been asked to review the Uniform Code
for Building Preservation. Discussion followed and the Board
recommended that. Felix delay this until after the first of the
year.
Board member Goldrich made a motion to move the nest BRB meeting to
November 18, Thursday, due to the holiday. Board member Johnson
seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Board members Sutton, Hansch, and Johnson stated they all have
conflicts. Board member Johnson moved to adjourn and reconvene
Wednesday, November 3, 1993 at 3:00pm to hear this case. Board
member Johnson seconded the motion. The motion passed.
The meeting was adjourned.
