Felix Lee Paul Eckman Ann Chantler Staff Liaison: Felix Lee Council Liaison: Ann Azari The meeting was called to order by the chairman, Mike Sutton. The minutes from the last meeting were approved. Ed Zdenek, Espirit, C.M. appeared before the Board requesting an up -grade of his license from a Class D/E to a Class Cl. Felix Lee, stated he could not grant Mr. Zdenek a license with the job verification forms submitted, which verified only attention work. Board member Cotterman asked Mr. Zdenek if he, as the architect, was personally involved the in the projects that were submitted on the job verification forms. Mr. Zdeneck stated he did serve as the superintendent on some of the jobs. Board member Froseth stated another factor to remember was that Mr. Zdenek was a licensed architect and had training in structural matters. Board chairman Sutton stated the job verifications indicated lack of experience, but he would take into consideration Mr. Zdenek's experience and knowledge as an architect. Board member Johnson moved to approve Mr. Ed Zdenek for a Class C-1 license and certificate with a waiver of testing to be determined by the Chief Building Official. Board member Froseth seconded the motion. The motion passed. Felix updated the Board on how the code review process was going. Mr. Lee stated Board member Cotterman was an active participant on that committee as well as on the Model Energy Code committee. A general meeting for the public will be held November 10, 1993 at 7:00pm at City Hall to dicuss the changes to the code. Felix stated after that meeting he would like to make a formal recommendation to this Board and then a recommendation to City Council in December.. Board member Cotterman stated the code adoption has been a very serious matter and Felix and his staff have done an excellent job making sure each code has been analyzed thoroughly. Mr. Cotterman also expressed his concern that there seems to be a trend of adding new code requirements that are significantly increasing costs. Felix told the Board he has been asked to review the Uniform Code for Building Preservation. Discussion followed and the Board recommended that. Felix delay this until after the first of the year. Board member Goldrich made a motion to move the nest BRB meeting to November 18, Thursday, due to the holiday. Board member Johnson seconded the motion. The motion passed. Representatives from Schroeder Roofing appeared before the Board. Board members Sutton, Hansch, and Johnson stated they all have conflicts. Board member Johnson moved to adjourn and reconvene Wednesday, November 3, 1993 at 3:00pm to hear this case. Board member Johnson seconded the motion. The motion passed.
