Members present: Goldrich, Cotterman, Sutton, Meleski. Members absent: Cornell, Hansch, Kruel-Froseth. Staff Liaison: Staff Present: Council Liaison: Felix Lee Ann Chantler Paul Eckman Felix Lee Ann Azari The minutes from the July meeting were approved. James Cook Jr. appeared before the Board to review his application for a Class D license and certificate. Mr. Cook supplied some additional information to the Board which included three houses built by James Cook Sr. Mr. Cook Sr. stated his son would be taking over the business in the future and his son would like the certificate. Board discussion followed. The Board was given the application of a previous contractor that was given a conditional Class D license. The Board discussed establishing a possible new classification of license for contractors who primarily do additions and remodeling. Board member Goldrich moved to grant James Cook Jr. a standard Class D license and certificate. There was no second, the motion died. Discussion followed. Building Review Board August 25, 1994 Page 2 Board member Cotterman moved to deny James Cook. Jr. a. class D license and certificate. The motion was seconded my Board member Meleski. Yeas: Cotterman, Meleski. Nayes: Goldrich, Sutton. The motion passed. Gail McLaughlin appeared before the Board requesting a Class D license and certificate. Board member Melenski stated Ms. McLaughlin did not supervise three complete homes. Ms. McLaughlin stated she felt a new classification was warranted for contractors that do remodeling and additions. She stated her jobs involved minor structural work. Ms. McLaughlin stated she would apply for a Home Improvement License and wait until a new license was established.. Board member Cotterman moved to deny Gail McLaughlin to a Class D license and certificate. Board member Meleski seconded the motion. Yeas: Goldrich, Cotterman, Sutton, Meleski. The motion passed. Tom Sibbald appeared before the Board and withdrew his appeal. Other Business: The Board discussed looking into establishing an additional Class D license and certificate that would help the contractors that do additions and remodeling. Board member Goldrich moved that the staff review the Class D license and certificate and bring suggestions and changes to the next BRB meeting. Board member Meleski seconded the motion. Yeas: Goldrich, Cotterman, Sutton, Meleski. The motion passed and Mr. Goldrich wanted it noted that all his motions do not die. Election of officers: Was decided to postpone elections until next month when more members could be present. The meeting was adjourned.
