HomeMy WebLinkAboutBuilding Review Board - Minutes - 10/26/19950 r BUILDING REVIEW BOARD October 26, 1995-1:OOpm City Council Chambers Members present: Hansch Cotterman Brown Froseth Members absent: Meleski Sutton The Building Review Board was called to order by Vice-chairman Hansch. The minutes from the September meeting were approved. Roger Lewis, Lewis Design, appeared before the Board requesting a Class C-1 license. He said he has an opportunity to build a 7500 square foot commercial building and currently only has a Class D license. Board member Froseth said the references submitted to the Board were all residential and asked Mr. Lewis if he could get commercial references. Mr. Lewis said the type of work he did was steel framing, a speciality and the job verifications would not be a Class c-1 verification. Lee added the funeral home construction verification was Class C-1 work. Mr. Lewis explained his involvement on the funeral home job. Board member Froseth said with only one C-1 project verification form, she was not in favor of granting this appeal without at least one more C-1 verification. Board member Cotterman agreed. Board member Brown said there was code differences between residential and commercial and would recommend he take the C test. 6 Building Review Board October 26, 1995 Page 2 Mr. Lewis reviewed his qualifications. Board member Cotterman moved to deny this appeal for a lack of verifications. Board member Froseth seconded the motion. Yeas: Hansch, Brown, Froseth, Cotterman. Nayes: None. The motion passed. Charles S. Boehme appeared before the Board requesting a Class C-1 license. He stated he had an unlimited license with the City of Fort Collins from 1972-1982. Board member Froseth asked Mr. Boehme if he could get documents from the Army Corp of Engineers for the work he did with them. Mr. Boehme indicated he could not. He said he achieved the rank of a major and had sufficient experience that would qualify him for a Class C-1 license. He added he has a four year construction management degree from Colorado State University. Board member Froseth said she would like to see more documentation. Board member Brown stated codes have changed since Mr. Boehme last had a license and he would recommend Mr. Boehme test. Board member Brown then made a motion to approve Mr. Boehme for a license after successfully passing the Class C test. There was no second, the motion died. Board member Froseth moved to deny Mr. Boehme for a Class C license for lack of references. Board member Cotterman seconded the motion. Yeas: Hansch, Froseth, Cotterman. Nays: Brown. The motion passed. Other Business: 1996 Work Plan was discussed. It was suggested a new information brochure be written in a question/answer format for contractor applying for a license. Board member Cotterman suggested the Board look at the authority and the role of the Building Review Board. Lee briefly discussed the operation of the Building and Zoning Department. Board member Cotterman suggested the Board review the time the meetings are held and asked that a survey of members next month be conducted.
