HomeMy WebLinkAboutPersonnel Board - Minutes - 12/30/2004PERSONNEL BOARD MINUTES December 30, 2004 2:00 PM 215 North Mason Conference Room 2-D Council Liaison: Ray Martinez, Mayor Staff Liaison: Rick DeLaCastro, Human Resources Director Board Chair: Valerie Remington Board Members Present: James Alderden; James Lyall; Valerie Remington, Chair; Peter Shostak; Sid Simonson City Staff Present: Joan Busch, Admin Support Supervisor (Recorder) Others Present: Sunita Sharma, Assistant City Attorney for the City of Greeley. Call to Order Chair Valerie Remington called the meeting to order at 2:05 p.m. The Chair confirmed that a quorum was present. Employee Appeal Hearing Peter Shostak moved to go in to Executive Session. Sid Simonson seconded. Motion passed unanimously (5-0). Valerie Remington then read the following statement: "as authorized by City Code Sections 2-71 B and 2-31 (a) (1) and (2), for the purpose of considering a personnel matter regarding the dismissal of and appeal hearing requested by a City employee, and for the purpose of meeting with the Board's legal advisor to receive legal advice regarding the manner in which particular policies, practices, or regulations of the City may be affected by existing law," the Board will go in to Executive Session. Only Board members and their counsel Sunita Sharma remained for the Executive Session. III. Reconvene The Board reconvened at 3:20 p.m. Valerie Remington announced that the Board had reached a decision. Peter Shostak moved that the Personnel Board will be informing the City Manager that it does not uphold the City's decision for the employee's termination. James Alderden seconded. Roll call vote: James Alderden, yes; James Lyall, yes; Valerie Remington, yes; Sid Simonson, no; Peter Shostak, yes. Motion passed (4-1). Sunita Sharma will be drafting the Board's conclusions and recommendations together with the dissenting opinion. She will forward the draft to the Personnel Board members for their review. After the final draft is prepared, Joan Busch will obtain Board member's signatures. IV. Adjourn There being no further business, Peter Shostak moved to adjourn. James Lyall seconded.
