Liz Stroh from the Department of Information Technology introduced the new technologc the cite will be using for hearing
impaired at city council meetings. It is a closed captioning system instead of a sign language interpreter. Question: Are the
monitors in the city council chamber set up to have closed captioning on -site" Liz will get back to Tracy on that issue. Overall.
the COD thought it was a great idea. Liz and Gan' asked the COD for ways to get the word out that this is available. Ideas
included putting an announcement in the city utilities billing, mentioning it -up-front" and throughout the meeting with a graphic
depiction, and putting periodic announcements on Channel 27.
Ideas for getting feedback on the system include using the utilities billing, using the COD web site. and having a phone number
to call. Hopefully in the future, other programs on Channel 27 will be closed captioned.
Diane had an idea to use the "bulletin board"" on Channel 27 to publicize the Mayors Awards. .Alan brought up the idea of using
the web site to post the nomination forms for the Mayors Awards.

Builders are supportive of practical housing features if they are asked about them. But they are not offering the options up front.
