Call Meeting to Order:
Meeting called to order by chairperson Brendon Votipka at 7:02 p.m.
Auaroval of Minutes from January 5, 2005
The minutes of the regular meeting on January 5 were corrected to read "Brendon composed a
letter to submit to school newspapers regarding the Youth Advisory Board and their purpose".
The minutes had reported that the letter was composed to submit to the Coloradoan. Corrected
minutes were unanimously (5-0) approved following a motion by Kristi Thomas and seconded
by Ryan Hennig.

YOUTH FEST INPUT REQUESTED
Kristie Blackmon, on behalf of the City's Youth Activity Center, is working with other agencies
to plan Youth Fest which is scheduled for May 6. The Youth Advisory Board agreed to help
with promoting the festivities which are geared toward junior high -age youths. Representatives
of Youth Fest will be in the St. Patrick's Day parade.
SUB -COMMITTEE REPORTS
Board members are working on getting the word out on the Youth Advisory Board its purpose.
Brendon Votipka was a guest on a KRFC radio show on January 8. The hosts of the show
invited Board representatives to return if there is news to report. The January Poudre High
School newspaper published Brendon's letter along with an article on the Youth Activity Center.

The same letter will be sent to Rocky Mountain High and Fort Collins High via YAB member
representatives. Kristi Thomas has drafted a letter that will be submitted to the Coloradoan's
Soapbox. All Board members were challenged by the chairperson to wear their YAB
sweatshirts.
The fund-raising effort for Inspiration Park will be led by Kristi Thomas. A coin challenge will
be issued to FCHS, PHS, Fossil Ridge, Centennial, Webber and Lincoln. Brendon will revise the
letter(s) from last year and bring to the March meeting. Board members are to approach their
respective student councils prior to the March meeting to introduce the idea; letters will be given
to student councils in March. The coin war will be held April 11-15 with the winner being
announced at the Battle of the Bands on April 16.
YOUTH ACTIVITY CENTER UPDATE/FUND-RAISING
The February calendar was distributed. Staff reported that participation at the YAC has
increased greatly with after -school attendance being around 30-50 kids per day. The drop -in
activities that are now included with a participant's membership have been very successful.
After -school transportation to the YAC is being provided on Tuesdays from Blevins,
Wednesdays from Collins Aire mobile home park, and Thursdays from Lesher.
NORTHSIDE AZTLAN COMMUNITY CENTER UPDATE
No update.
OTHER BUSINESS
• Information on a training session for Board and Commission members was sent to the
YAB.
• The recently -published Boards & Commissions manual was distributed to members in
attendance.
• The "Talk of the Town" cable TV show may be rescheduled for February 17.
• The process has begun to create the Request for Proposal for the new Northside Aztlan
Community Center.
• Volunteers are needed for Club 56 on February 5.
ADJOURNMENT
Following a motion by Cara Getches and seconded by Kristi Thomas, the Board voted
unanimously (5-0) to adjourn at 7:50 p.m.
