Ayleen Burns noted that she & Ann Wilmsen met with Brad Randall, the Graphic Designer
for the City. Brad Randall agreed to help with the design of posters, bookmarks, and perhaps
advertisements. Ayleen Bums added that a letter had been sent to David Short with the DBA
(Downtown Business Association) requesting support. A copy of the letter was circulated to the
Board. The DBA will provide $300.00 to assist in the printing costs. Posters will be distributed
by Nancy York if the budget allows. Approximately 200 posters will be printed and 125 will be
distributed. Ayleen Bums & Ann Wilmsen will follow-up with poster creation and distribution,
and with Arts Alive. The Board discussed distribution of the bookmarks at local bookstores,
library, and museum.
Ayleen Burns shared an article about Arts and Humanities moth from the "Americans for
the Arts." The article entitled "101 Things to do to Celebrate Arts & Humanities Month" was
circulated to the Board and is available at www.americansforthearts.com
The Board will brainstorm next year's plans for the month at the November meeting.
Loren Hooper will coordinate participation with the Poudre School District with Tom Balchak.
The Board discussed various ways to partner with the District. If working with the Poudre R-1 is

V. Review of Past Fort Fund Events
Tuesday Night Neighborhood Meeting in City Park — Sue Beck-Ferkiss attended. It was
raining, so turnout was light. The Fort Fund banner was not up and the logo was not included on any
printed materials.
Elderhaus Hoedown and Pig Roast — Loren Hooper attended. Turnout was good and the Fort
Fund banner was up.
Opera Fort Collins — Jack Steele attended. Turnout was marginal and less than previous
performances. Ann Wilmsen added that she heard great reviews.
La Via dell'Arte, The Road of Art — Arts Alive event attended by Jack Steele. Not a huge
turnout, very little advertising. The Fort Fund logo was on printed materials and next to one of the
artists, but the banner was not up. Ann Wilmsen added that it was a first -year event and the Board
discussed its potential to grow. The Board discussed acquiring tickets to events. The organization
should contact the Board, but the Board can contact the organization as well. Jack Steele noted that
Libby Colbert sends letters with the Board contact.
VI. Committee Reports
Fort Collins Museum — Jack Steele — The MAC (Museum Advisory Council) has not met over
the summer and will resume meetings in September. Cheryl Donaldson reported that the Museum has
received 123 applications for the Curator of Education. 48 applications were submitted to museum staff
for review and interviews will be scheduled for the second week of September. Cheryl Donaldson also
reported on The Native American Music Festival scheduled for Labor Day weekend. Advertising for the
vent has been strong with commercials on the Channel 27 and local Comcast Stations.
Convention and Visitor's Bureau — Ayleen Bums reported that the CVB was vital group with
many irons in the fire. A new advertising campaign was launched but not discussed at the meeting.
Overall, the industry seems to be doing well, and the atmosphere is there to work together. Jehovah's
Witnesses will be holding a meeting in Fort Collins reportedly bringing thousands of dollars to the
community.
Art in Public Places — Sue Beck Ferkiss reported that an artist has been chosen for the Prospect
Gateway. Eventually, there will be two gateways with two perspectives- one from each of the two artists.
The gateway is still under discussion. Chip Steiner of the DDA (Downtown Development Authority)
and a representative of the Engineering Dept. were invited to the meeting. Prospect in the "Ecological
Gateway to the Community," Harmony is the "Technological Gateway" and Mulberry is the
"Commercial Gateway."
VIL Other Business
Jack Steele asked if there had been any work on the results of the BOB surveys (Building on Basics).
Cheryl Donaldson reported that she had not heard anything yet.
Jon Wilkinson inquired of the board if anyone new the history of New West Fest and if it was originally
funded by Fort Fund. Cheryl Donaldson offered to research the event's beginnings.
