INSPIRATIONAL PARK UPDATE
Brownie McGraw, chairperson for the inspirational park task force, presented a video regarding
the project that was started a year ago. The City has donated a portion of Spring Canyon
Community Park for the playground, and fund-raising is underway to reach the $475,000 goal to
build this universally -accessible playground. "Inspiration Playground" is the new name that was
chosen for the project.
A community input and design meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 9 at Foothills
Gateway from 7:00-9:00 P.M.
YOUTH SUMMIT
Kristie Blackmon reviewed information on the Youth Summit that will be held in Estes Park on
October 16 and 17. This summit is open to public and private boards and commissions for
individuals in 6`h-12`h grades. Some Board members expressed an interest in attending, and
Kristie will contact missing Board members and the three who will be appointed next week to
determine if they are interested as well.

YAB GATHERING/STAFF RETREAT
Staff and Board members who were present agreed to try to get together on either September 19
or 26 for a half -day retreat. Other Board members will be contacted to determine their
preference.
YOUTH ACTIVITY CENTER UPDATE/FUND-RAISING
The September calendar was distributed with program highlights listed on the back. The Teen
Leadership program allows teens to make decisions about programs and activities offered at the
YAC. The fencing program is also highlighted.
Construction on the gym started July 13 and is ahead of schedule. The project may be done as
early as Thanksgiving or November 30. Peggy Bowers spearheaded the fund-raising effort;
funding is still needed.
A new program being offered to teens is The Job Guy, which is offered by Lee Swanson of Ben
& Jerry's. Teens who take this two-hour workshop have a better chance of getting the part-time
job they want.
It is likely that Splash Dances, which have been held at the Senior Center in the past, will be held
at the YAC beginning in January.
Volunteers are needed for Club 56 if Board members or their friends are interested.
NORTHSIDE AZTLAN COMMUNITY CENTER UPDATE
No update.
