Update on Wind - Mike Smith
Mike Smith, Utilities General Manager, stated that the City Attorney determined that the Utility
cannot buy greentags through rate basing. He stated that he asked Platte River Power Authority
if they would consider putting together a product of wind energy with the green attributes
attached, and they agreed that they can. So, the Utility will buy renewable energy from Platte
River and they will format it by greentags and tie those greentags to actual energy that is
delivered to the Utility. He added that after Council approves the budget Platte River will go out
and get some prices.
