Maintaining an archive - Dean Miller suggested starting a scrapbook with brochures, articles, and photos of the events SAB has been involved. Dean suggested tabling discussion until next meeting. C. Senior Health and Fitness Day's Athletic Achievement Award - Barbara Schoenberger reported that National Senior Health and Fitness Day is celebrated each year in May and has been celebrated differently each year. This year's celebration is a coordinated effort by the Aspen Club and the Senior Center and will focus on celebrating individuals who, at an older age, have achieved something physically significant or overcome a debilitating situation. The nominators and those nominated will be celebrated at a luncheon at the Senior Center on May 26, Senior Health and Fitness Day. The committee would like not only a nomination but would appreciate help getting the information in to the community. D. Issues on Aging - Barbara Schoenberger gave a report on Age Power and Age Wave by Dychtwald. Dean Miller made a motion to have Barbara send a copy of her report to City Council. Bud Herin seconded the motion. The motion was carried. The Executive Board will prepare a memo to cover the report at their next meeting. E. June Social - John Roberts will present a slide show of his latest world travel before the June 9a' meeting. VI. Old Business A. Outreach 1. Community events a. Sundance Bluegrass Festival and Chili Cook -off will be held the end of September or beginning of October. b. Bridging the Gap Network Luncheon - Jim Downey and Jeanette Namuth. There will be a meeting next week. The luncheon will be held at the Ranch. The Senior Center is reserved for 2005. c. Inter -Faith Council networking - Mike Richardson — Mike has discovered that there are three different councils. Mike is working with the Councils to offer transportation to services, health appointment, legal appointments, etc. 2. Relationships with other City Boards a. Affordable Housing Board - Sandra Gibson got a copy of the minutes from the last meeting. The work plan is in the minutes. b. Commission on Disability - Don Wells will be the liaison. c. Human Relations Commission - John Smith — No report. d. Transportation Board - John Smith & Jeanette Namuth — No additional report. B. Advocacy 1. Provide input on senior housing issues through relationship with Affordable Housing Board - Sandra Gibson — Above. 2. Provide input on senior transportation issues through relationship with Transportation Board - Jeanette Namuth — Above. 3. City Plan - Executive Board — No report. 4. Fund raising activities for the Senior Center - Barbara Schoenberger - Tax Day Scramble will be May I" 2. VOA Nutrition: Meals are now produced by PVH which will has save VOA a sizeable amount of money. Some meal sites will be discontinued. Suggested senior donation for lunch is $2.25. 3. Senior Housing: OOA is giving a presentation at CARE on April 21 regarding attainable & affordable senior housing 4. Transportation: Marjorie asked if Smart Trips had been considered or contacted on behalf of seniors for transportation to and from meal sites. They will check it out. 5. Seniors Tax Work -off program turned away 46 qualified applicants due to availability of funding. VIL Adjourn - A motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Jeanette Namuth and seconded by Dianne Heath.
