REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
February 22, 2001
Facilities Building Conference Room
Members present: Nancy Baker, Kathryn Johnson, Susan Williams, Mark Beck, Ruth Ann
Skogerboe, Diane Dittus, Rob and Romola Fritz, Bob Palmer, Steve Seefeld. Guests:
Wanda Krajicek, Fort Collins City Clerk; Jan Kuhnen, Larimer County Elections
Supervisor; Kathleen Hixon.
The meeting was called to order by Nancy Baker, Chairman, at 12:20 p.m. Since we had
two new members present, Nancy asked all present to introduce themselves. Bob Palmer
announced that this was his last meeting as he had submitted his resignation as commission
liaison. The members expressed their appreciation for what Bob has done while working
with the commission.
Mark made the motion and Rob seconded it that the minutes be approved as read. The
motion carried.
Susan had invited Wanda Krazicek and Jan Kunhen to come to the meeting to tell about
the city and county's procedures for voting, in particular the accommodations that are
available for the disabled. Commission members asked questions about the availability of
Braille ballots or methods of providing other locations for privacy in voting for the visually
impaired. The representatives showed a sample of a new voting booth that is accessible to
wheelchair -users. The availability of ballots on audio tape, in large print, and by mail was
described. In addition, they told of the availability of magnifiers due to the smaller font
used in the increasingly longer ballots. Also, the county web site has an application for a
mailed ballot(www.co.larimer.co.us/clerk/elections), and curb service is available upon
advance request for voters unable to exit their cars.
After a discussion, the members voted to cancel the March 8 meeting due to spring break.
The next meeting will be held on March 22.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:50 p.m.
