Since I don't recall what I have told you already, here is a complete rundown on what we have accomplished with disabled parking spaces since I first visited with vou. In the notes below, "improved" generally means we took an existing space and widened it to the new standard and installed the "$75.00 fine" sign. We may have done other things, like lowering the sign, repainting the symbol on the pavement, or installed the new plastic symbol on the pavement. "New" means we put in a new space where one did not exist before. In every case where we put in a new space, it is built to the new standards (13 feet wide, van accessible.) Here is the list of changes to -date: * 2 spaces on 100 W. Olive, new, one on the south side, one of the north side. * 2 spaces on 100 E. Olive, 1 improved, 1 new. * 2 spaces on 100 E. Oak, new (these are the ones you asked for near the public restroom.) * 1 space on 100 W. Oak, improved. * 5 spaces on 200 W. Oak, 2 new, 3 improved (these are the spaces we took off the corner of Olive and Howes which were unsafe, and moved to Olive. We also built a new curb cut and accessible ramp up to the Old County Courthouse while construction is going on. After the construction is complete, these spaces will be located in the New County Admin Building parking lot, closer to the building.) * 1 space, 100 block of S. Remington, new, next to the Elks club. This was put in to help while the Oak/Remington lot was torn up, and the Elks Club has asked us to leave it there, so we have. * 2 spaces, Oak/ Remington lot, improved to new standard, next to the Elks Club. * 1 space, 100 block of S. Mathews St., new, mid -block next to the church which has a meals -on - wheels program. We put in a new curb cut and ramp, also. * 1 space, 100 block of N. College, new, in front of the Northern Hotel. * 1 space, 200 Walnut, relocated across the alley, new curb cut, signs, and symbol_ * I space, 300 N. Linden, new, near Sears Trostel. * 3 spaces, 215 N. Mason Lot, new when the building was built. * 3 spaces, 136 S. Mason Lot, 2 new, 1 improved. This is the lot with our new pay parking machine in it. * 1 space, City Hall parking lot, new, next to ramp leading to front door. Wriosed for the near -future: space, uiestnut Lot, new, to accommodate a new church in the area, should happen next week. * 1 space, 200 S. College near Ace Hardware. This has been a real challenge because of the steepness from t e asphalt t up tote si ewa eve . ur only real option is to put this space adjacent to the driveway between Ace and the old post office building. Will be installed this fall. * Placement of "$75 fine" signs throughout downtown. Most will be installed this fall. CIf we have any funds left after these things are done, we will continue to address the other sites you identified for us. Please let me know if you need other info. I am committed to continue to work on this program until we MEMW Qet it "up to snuff." Thanks for your email. 10/4/2002 o To GoAt
