Bill Neal, Gary Nordic, David Jensen, and Fred Croachie with Wheeler Realty reviewed a history of negotiations between Wheeler Realty and the City of Fort Collins that would have allowed Wheeler Realty to purchase a parcel of ground south and west of the Senior Center for development. Monies from the sale of the land to Wheeler would have allowed the City to purchase land adjacent to the Senior Center on Shields Street to be developed in to additional parking. It would have also allowed for good visibility for the Center from Shields Street. Wheeler also stated that they were willing to build a parking structure or addition to the Senior Center and lease it back to the City until funding could be found for purchase (on the remaining amount of land to the west of the Center). The City declined the previous offer but Wheeler Realty would like to reopen discussions. The Board was asked for support and a recommendation to the City Council.
