Meetine Opened Chairperson Alison Mason called the meeting to order at 5:16 p.m. Discussion Focus of meeting was to brainstorm regarding the Electric Energy Supply Policy. Following is the outline the Board discussed. Vision Possibilities • Defer construction of power plant • Keep rates competitive • Maintain high reliability • What do citizens think? - Wind survey - RW Beck surveys - PRPA surveys • Commitment to climate protection • Reduce impact of fossil fuel • Sustainability • More Demand Side Management • Reliability as quality Developed one line as follows: To meet the electric requirements of our current and future customers through (or by) high quality, Electric Board Minute Meetings March 4, 2002 exceptional reliability, competitive rates in an environmentally responsible manner. Targets & Goals • By 2010, 10 percent of energy from renewables (non -hydro) • Avoid building a new coal plant • ?% in reduction of CO2 emissions generated (coal plants) • KYOTO protocol by 2010 (7% below 1990 CO2) • Cap/reduce per capita energy use (at 2%?)
