HomeMy WebLinkAboutGolf Board - Minutes - 11/14/2001City of Fort Collins Cultural, Library, and Recreational Services Golf Board Minutes: Regular Meeting of November 14, 2001 City Council Liaison to the Board: Councilman Bill Bertschy Staff Support to the Board: Jerry P. Brown, Manager of Golf, at 221-6350, and Jackie Rael, Executive Administrative Assistant Call Meeting to Order: Chairperson Mike Sanders called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. at the Collindale Golf Course Clubhouse. Items of Note: Jerry P. Brown noted the following: Karen Joslin-Aured has resigned from the Board by letter stating that she has many family commitments and the Board was an obligation that she had to let go. Board Members Brian Cobb and Claire Nelms called to say they would not be able to attend tonight's meeting. Councilman Bill Bertschy was in attendance and he thanked the Board for their commitment to the City and thanked Byrd Curtis and Tom White for their service to the City. Mike Sanders added that Councilman Bertschy has been an instrumental liaison to our Board. Agenda Review: No changes to the printed Agenda. Approval of Minutes: On a motion by Byrd Curtis, seconded by Tom White, the Board voted unanimously to approve the minutes of the September 19, 2001 Regular Meeting. Citizen Participation: No citizen participation. Golf Board 2002 Work Plan and Meeting Schedule Jerry P. Brown reviewed the plan and schedule with the Board stating the Board will continue to meet at 281 North College Avenue in Conference Room "D" instead of "A". The meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of the month except for the October 2002 meeting, which will be held on the 4s' Wednesday of the month. Jerry pointed out the following items that the Board will be reviewing in 2002 as follows: 2003 Fees and Charges are due to the City Manager by August. Fort Collins Fore Kids Planning March — Election of officers Golf Board Minutes November 14, 2001 Page 2 • May — Choose two Board members to the Collindale Restaurant/Snack Bar RFP Review Committee On a motion by Tom White, seconded by Bill Rutledge, the Board voted unanimously to accept the 2002 Work Plan and Meeting Schedule as presented. Capital Projects Collindale Clubhouse Project Update: Mike Sanders said that Karen Joslin-Aured was a member of the Collindale Clubhouse Committee. Bill Ruddege was previously appointed to serve as an alternate for the committee and he will replace Karen's position on the committee. Tomorrow the committee is meeting with the artists for Collindale Clubhouse. Mike then appointed Manuel Jimenez as the new alternate to the committee. Jerry gave the Board a revised schedule for the Collindale Clubhouse timeline. We will start construction in February (approximately) and will open mid -to -late October. The artist will work with the interior designer and the architect. Jerry reminded the Board that we discussed working the art into the cement work. Contractors will bid the project on January 28, 2002. SouthRidge Patio Pavilion/Restroom/Basement: The SouthRidge project will begin construction after Thanksgiving. The contractor is RC Heath, who were the low bid and we are very satisfied with them as a contractor for this project. The project should be completed by April. Jerry explained that the SouthRidge project will be south (detached) of the existing clubhouse. The main entrance will be on the east side. Mike Sanders asked if there is an artist rendering of the project that we could post? Jerry said he will check. Request to Cancel the December 19 meeting: Mike Sanders said that due to the holidays and the lack of pertinent business, he would like to cancel the December 19 meeting. On a motion by Tom White, seconded by Byrd Curtis, the Board voted unanimously to cancel the December 19, 2001 Regular Meeting. Other Business • Jerry said that the American flags will be used on the greens for holidays and special occasions only. At City Park Nine, Superintendent Dave Sadler will put an extra cup on the fringe of the green to place the American Flag on those occasions. Financial and Statistical Reports Jerry reviewed the numbers for October. The weather has been phenomenal and we will probably exceed projected revised Operating Revenues by $100,000 or more by the end of the year. Golf Board Minutes November 14, 2001 Page 3 Board Members and Staff Comments • Mike Sanders expressed appreciation to Board Members Byrd Curtis and Tom White. He also recognizes and appreciates Karen Joslin-Aured's family commitments and wishes them all well. • Byrd Curtis said he enjoyed working on the Board for the past six years, even though he sometimes has expressed differences, he thinks that is what makes a productive Board. • Tom White said that he has enjoyed the past 10-1/2 years on the Board. He has met a lot of good people and thanks the City for the opportunity to serve.
