DISCUSSION ITEMS
IV. Umbrella Organization discussion
The Board continued the discussion regarding organizations that are part of a larger
"umbrella" and those that have national chapters. The board decided that it is acceptable to
fund events of organizations whose primary mission is to fund another organizations, i.e.,
the Symphony Guild. If organization "A" gives funds to a second organization `B", it must
be the sole purpose of the organization "A" to disburse funds to organization `B" (i.e., the
fundraising arm of the organization "B"). The Board also agreed that it is acceptable for
Fort Fund to organizations that give a percentage of their profits to a national chapter The
Board discussed the difference between funding events and funding organizations. The
Board asked to add a phrase to the funding criteria encompassing how the profits of the
event will be used. The Board will rephrase this part of the guidelines at the May or June
meeting.
V. Colorado Committee for the Arts Business Award Nomination
The Board discussed details about the nomination. Conunittee members Jennifer
Sterling Beccard and Ann Wilmsen will make a time line for the nomination process and
prepare a list of people to contact to assist in the nomination. They will give an update to
the Board in May.
VI. City Budget/Policy Agenda Preparation Input
The Board discussed ideas for items to include in memos to the City Manager
regarding the 2003-2005 Policy Agenda and Budget. Items included re -instating the Curator
of Education position at the Museum. This position represents 20% of their full time
employees. Staff will work on drafts with Chairperson, Ayleen Burns and email copies to
the Board for review.
VII. Period Review Process
Karla Smith, Boards and Commissions Coordinator sent a memo and
questionnaire to the Board requesting information about the Cultural Resources Board
(e.g. duties, functions, communication, etc.). A separate sub -committee was formed to
address this item. Ayleen Burns, Jennifer Sterling Beccard and Jon Wilkinson will prepare
a draft of the document and will bring it to the May meeting. The questionnaire is due to
the City Clerk on July 7, 2003.
VIII. Citizen Participation
Ruth Skogerboe of the Commission on Disabilities talked about a "Creative Abilities Art

IX. Review of Fort Fund Events -
Riverboat the Rockies — Ayleen Burns — Banners were hung, good attendance, logo
was used. Very nice event.
Women in Excellence — Footprint Lecture Series — logo was used and Fort Fund was
mentioned as a sponsor. The cost was $15. The Board discussed that the price was too
high. There were approximately 100 audience members.
